I seem to hear cars passing me by from behind on my left hand side more than on the right side.

I feel the sound comes either between the two doors or the rear one behind the drivers seat it literally sounds like the rear window is open. When cars pass me by from the front left hand side the sound is much more Silent.

So my conclusion is that its from the rear door. And this bs is driving me insane i cant enjoy driving the car without hearing every car pass me on the highway and yes my car has taped side mirrors which have helped some but not with this sound. It almost feels like the rear window is open and Sound leaks into the car. The sound gets annoying when i reach speeds around 80km/h

Has anyone else experienced this?

All four interior door panels have insulation padding on the back side of them. Also, all four doors have solid window regulators so there are no holes between the door panel and the inside of the door. I don't think if your rear door panel was missing the sound insulation it would make a huge difference. Two things. 1. If the rubber seal is not making good contact between the door and body of the car, you will get quite a bit more noise. 2. Sitting in the drivers seat, you will hear much more exterior noise from the left rear door than you will from any door on the right. This is mainly because your ear is right next to the left side of the car and you have seats between you and the right side blocking a lot of sound. If you were the passenger in your car, you will hear more exterior sounds coming from the right side than the left side.

You can download a sound decibel app (I use Decibel X) and have someone drive while you sit in the back seat and place your phone close to the left rear door taking a reading then the right rear door. Make sure you are on the highway with a road that has consistent noise and hopefully little traffic so as not to cause any spikes in the reading. I bet the readings will be very similar if not the same.

Thank you Mark for your fast reply and tip.

I used to brag about this car being so silent and i compared it to my last vehicle which was a Mercedes GLE 2020. And i thought it was more Silent than that one until after a month when all these sounds slowly started to appear.

Thank you for the tip i also got another tip to use an air compressor and blow air on different areas while someones sitting inside. But this is should be the dealaers job not mine. Since all these things are under warranty. I tried two different Mach e's with the same tires and rims and they both sound like my car used to be very Silent. I have used a db meter and i go as high as 80-85db in 80km/h on the highway with 2 lanes beside me. I dont even want to go past 100 because than its just horrible.

I read a thread from another post from a guy named voxel who described three areas where he has Poor isolation/wind noise.

* Top of the windshield and glass roof i have this aswell, plastic bag effect
* The glass and roof frame my front frame moves slightly when i stick my finger below the panel above my head and the Panoramic roof.
And than between the door and my left ear passengers claim their window is open but i dont know. Hopefully the dealer will help me. The last one i havent been able to locate yet im hunting the sound which is the one i referred to in my earlier post.

I will keep you all updated if i dig into a solution.

Alirafiee, thats what we all reach for the windows but it doesnt help. I hope you dont get this on your GT.
