I have a 21 Mach E that had the hvbjb fail on March 12th. I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed it, confirmed the problem, and told me it would be fixed the next week when parts got there.

It’s now May 9. The car still isn’t fixed. There is no eta. I called the bev people and was told they wouldn’t pay for a rental and that a supervisor would call. They didn’t call. I contacted @Ford Motor Company here and was told to keep working with the people I have been working with, the same people who don’t call. I contacted ford at twitter and was told the same.

I finally got a return call from the bev people last week to tell me they talked to my service manager and the car wasn’t fixed. I asked them to buy the car back even though it’s just outside lemon law eligibility here in Oregon.

Today they called me back to tell me there’s no eta on fixing my car and to tell me they won’t buy the car back because I can’t legally make them using the lemon law.

I am truly at a loss as to how to get Ford to stand behind their products. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do about this car that has now been in the shop for months?

The dealer isn’t the problem. The service manager is actively communicating with me and has been very responsive. It just took forever to even get the parts from ford and now apparently they are having problems with the pcm on top of everything else so they are calling Ford “engineers” to see if they have ideas.

Edit: Also, I called every local dealership when the problem first happen and this was the only dealership to even make an effort to get the car in quickly. The others just said it would be at least a month before they could set an appointment just to diagnose the issue.

And it looks like the fix isn’t going well.

I don't know, it looks like they've started working on it. I get the frustration of not having a car, but I'm not quite sure what your problem is.

You wouldn’t have a problem making payments on a car that has been in the shop for 58 days? As in just short of two whole months? Especially when the issue has been well known since the cars came out and ford somehow hasn’t figured out how to make a reliable replacement or sort out distribution to make sure that failing cars get the parts they need in a timely manner? And wouldn’t have an issue with ford not reimbursing you for a rental while they try and fail to fix a warranty issue?

Yes I would, but I'd probably act earlier than only after 60 days. Case in point: when I bought my used 2021, it had the HVBJB recall on file - although it was the preventative recall, not because it failed. Initially the dealer said I'd have to leave it with them until they'd get it fixed, but I pushed them until they agreed to let me drive it and then just take it back once the parts arrived. It's slated to get serviced next week.

I don't understand what you're trying to get NOW other than being heard and validated that it's a shitty situation. It looks like they're repairing your car, and that they're not giving you a loaner. The first deals with your original problem, the latter sucks. For the loaner issue I'd pressure Ford to give you 60k points or some shit and call it a day. For the repairs, I'd call into the dealership every day to get an update until they're so annoyed with me that they'll expedite.

If you don’t understand what I’m trying to get now, please reread the title of this thread. Parts weren’t available and didn’t become available for a proactive fix until over a month after it failed. I already called every day. Ford hasn’t done anything and their response to pressure is to tell me that they won’t cover a rental and aren’t able to find parts. Because it’s just outside being eligible for lemon law, ford won’t buy it back. I am now at a loss as to what else I can do now that I have tried all of the other things to get Ford to make this right.

As for Ford points, hell no. After this experience I will never buy another ford product and I’m 18 months from being able to turn this one in on the ford options program.

The part is available, priority is given to failed vehicles first, then ones that have not failed.

Mine was setup to be done in January. Part arrived 2+ months later. Took it in, done in a day.

Yeah, that didn’t happen here. Parts are supposed to be available, but my failed car got no priority apparently. A month later they called to let me know I should make an appointment to get it fixed at which point I asked them what they thought I had been doing since it failed a month before.

The dealer did not order the part properly, or it would have been there in a week or less.

So far the replies I’m getting here are making it clear that I have done what I can and that Ford did all they need to do when they made a car that was just good enough to get past the lemon law cutoff. Thank you to those who took the time to read this.

I feel your pain. Making car payment AND paying for a rental. I had similar issue. It doesn't help how much they say sorry when your out a few thousand dollars. You might try asking them to at least make car payment so you can afford a rental. I love my MME! But when it is not running I like every other car that is running better.

I appreciate the sentiment. After weeks of them refusing to cover anything I got them to finally say they will request the rental get covered. I also asked about car payments and was told that they can’t do anything until the car is fixed so everything is out of pocket until then and then they will see what they can do.
