plug share has stations listed as Tesla only that you can in fact use.

Tesla app/website is probably then only 100% solution currently.
I have always found the network's app me is the only way to be sure.

But it sure is annoying to not be trustworthy 100 percent.

How prevalent is this? Are the same errors in google maps and abrp (or is it plugshare because they are community?) Are there specific stations you know about?

You guys have been waaaay helpful, so thanks a bunch for the replies/answers/perspectives!

A few more leftover details I’d like to hear about:
  • Regarding the seat/mirror/driver profiles, does it automatically adjust based upon your key (be it phone or key FOB)? That is, does it recognize who’s in the driver’s seat, and automatically choose your profile?
  • (Apologies if I’m repeating myself; I thought I asked this but I can’t find my ask of it.) If you’re using the non-BlueCruise steering-control/lane-centering feature (I forgot Ford’s buzzword for that feature), it screws up, and you override it by turning the wheel. Question: Does that cause it to disengage the steering-control feature? Tesla has the notion that either you or Autopilot is steering the car, and if you correct its steering, it disengages Autopilot and switches over to you driving. Hyundai’s system (at least on the rental we had a few years ago) has no such distinction; both you and the computer are always simultaneously steering, and if you correct it, you always win, but doing so doesn’t cause it to disconnect; it continues to assist your steering. You don’t have to remember to reengage it.
Seat per-user profiles have worked generally well with fob and Phone as Key. A couple times I had to start the car first and then manually select the profile f try on the door button. (1,2,3)

Full-on BlueCruise, you are always the driver. Driver inputs control the car in all situations. If you do something with the wheel or gas pedal, it will return to BC when you are no longer making those inputs. If you hit the brake, it disengages until you specifically re-engage. An example is if I want to make an assertive lane change Right Now, I turn on my blinker as I am checking my blind spot…the car is assessing the viability of that move…but my checks have been completed and I am moving the steering wheel. The car says “you got it, Chief” and the blue halo dissapears, letting you know it is no longer driving the car. After you are stable 10-20 seconds in the new lane, the blue halo appears and it resumes BlueCruise.

As a curiosity, do you not have a dealer that gives test drives?

I find the detail of your questions interesting because i would answer them in test drives

I am unaware of a brake hold button. But my honda had one all the time and i never noticed for years until someone pointed it out. There is a break hold feature but not a button. Brake hold is independent of 1pd (which i use and love).

A question you didn't ask is if there is a rear hatch physical button. There isn't. It is deeply annoying but wouldn't be a decider for me in either case.

I downloaded the Better Route Planner app, told it I have a Mach-E, including having a NACS adaptor, and it does show Tesla Superchargers (plenty of them). However, I don’t know for sure whether that app is smart enough to factor in which charging stations really are compatible with Mach-E. That, as opposed to just assuming that having a NACS adaptor is itself sufficient.

Hmmm…
Rivians (ABRP parent company) have the same problem and I have observed it does differentiate.

I’m not sure how the errors get in, I assumed from the community submitted data. For example Valley Plaza outside Cincinnati was wrong last month, but I reported it and it has been changed.

You guys have been super-helpful (much more so than the sales people) and I think I have no more questions, although I want understand the Supercharger availability better.

Unfortunately, we did not have enough time in the test drive to try out all of the various ADAS features I asked about here, so again, thanks for the words of wisdom.

Aha! I lied to PlugShare that I drive a Model Y, just to make those Superchargers will show up in the app, and then popped them up. They do include a banner saying “OPEN TO NON-TESLA.” Between that and the fact that Better Route Planner says they’re available, it’s probably a good bet that they’ll work on a Mach-E.

I can’t vouch for cold temps - just bought ours in March - but the longest trip we took so far was all highway (kept it between 60 and 70 mph), 80s so AC on and left with 100%. After 210 miles it had 48% battery. We have RWD premium with extended range.

So, roughly what kinds of 10-80% charging times have you folks seen on 350KW EA stations? How about 150KW?
I was at a 400Kw Mercedes branded ChargePoint station in Temple last week and went from the mid-20s to 80% in 26 minutes, in 95F temps. These are at the Temple Buc-ees just north of town. We have a Premium AWD Standard battery. You will get a lot more range with the big battery and RWD. But our car is faster :p

Hmm, mine has never changed on it's own, maybe I need a software update. But really it's not that hard, I just press the 2 button on the door.

BlueCruise works great around Austin, since the OP listed Austin as his location. I try to avoid going into town at all cost, but when I do, BlueCruise makes it a lot less stressful.
