Possibly Facing Eviction; Advice Needed

Hey everyone! I just got back home. I was in a loc. without reception for the last 5 days or so. Here is an update. The letter from the attorney to the complex management went out on 12/5. I haven't heard anything from the landlord. Could be that they are still trying to decide what to do. If this all blows over, in a couple weeks, I will post it or if there is more to come, I will post it later with the rest of the documentation.

To clarify, I wasn't attempting to create a click bait title. From the managements previous email, which I had posted earlier, I took it pretty hostile. I assumed that with everything that could have/did transpire, I might actually face eviction. In fact, my attorney said to expect it but that could easily be fought.

considering all the various perspectives and advice you got from Forum Members, I am a little curious what demands, or solutions, you offered to your HOA through your Lawyer.

so, how about you go back and edit the top post title to be something more representative of your core question.... maybe something like:

How can a convince my Landlord to install a 240v outlet for charging in my garage that is not metered and billed to my Unit?

I would HOPE that you suggested that:

1. garage circuits currently powered by Association service (not on your meter) should/could be metered with energy monitors or customer owned meters so you could pay for the energy you consume.... and this would apply to all renters that have garages not powered from their meters. I would think the Landlord would be willing to spring for the monitors since then they could start billing people for what they use.

2. you would be glad to pay to have a licensed Electrician install a 240v outlet since you are requesting the improvement, and are willing to pay retail rate for the Energy consumed.

If the outlet in the garage wasn't made to be used, what was it made for? There were no limitations in the lease provision they sent you that said what could or could not be plugged into the outlet. As for how it's metered, that's not on you. The outlet came with no conditions and only upon lease renewal could they change the conditions. They can't both put the plug in the garage, charge for the use of the garage, only to back pedal on the plug's usage. Most states even have restrictions about disconnecting power in situations like this. I'd keep using what you paid for as part of your lease and worry about it when it comes up again. Best find your original lease. I scan and keep triplicates (including digital) of all legal docs. Make them file legal action, counter them and make them cover legal costs for baseless claims. Have your lawyer slip some punitive damages on there and any other expenses incurred for dealing with it.

The funniest thing about this is that the 'community' power charge is paid by residents, not even the complex. They're just being hostile to be hostile, aka a power trip. Those are the worst people to deal with.
