Everyone with a job 1 car who has received the FP Frunk button already had the module updates necessary fir the Frunk remote release done by their dealer using FDRS or by themselves using FDRS. There’s not much to write home about here. Ford’s OTA plans for the Frunk haven’t changed in the slightest — unfortunately.
Except that people just got the frunk button OTA.

Is this not what people have been waiting for? JIRMPA seems to be ecstatic!

People didn’t get the frunk button via OTA, they got the FordPass frunk button because FordPass populated the button to the app. For some, this occurred after this update (@ChasingCoral for example), for others it occurred before they received the update (@Jimrpa for example). This update is a GWM update, not a frunk update — that would be the GFM and BCM and more that need to be done.

Otherwise, I’d be rather pleasantly glad I was wrong at this point as I got the update this morning. But alas, my job 1 still doesn’t have a frunk release button on FordPass. All of which is fine as the frunk on my car can only be opened by double pulling the release.

Just got it in my recently acquired 2021 MME Premium ER AWD. Built in December 2020. I wonder if this update did anything to the bouncing charge rate on L2 charging. Will test it tomorrow.
I have noticed our ChargePoint Home Flex charger fluctuates while charging. It has consistently done so for about a month now and I couldn't find anything about this.

Sorry to interrupt this thread I don't get a chance to read everything posted here so if there is a thread on this that I missed I'd like to see it.

Might be a combination of things, did you do the recent FordPass update?

Check JIMRPA’s thread I linked a few posts ago, seems lots of people got it.

Yes people are getting it. Last I heard was the FordPass team was going to turn that feature on when a certain percentage of job 1 cars had obtained the update. For all we know they have an elf on loan from Kris Kringle locked in a room manually entering VINs to enable the feature. But it didn’t come from this latest PowerUp.

@Jimrpa why isn’t this front page news!!!!
He already started a thread on it. He got the button on his app about a week before I did.

I believe it was a back-end server change to make the button appear in Ford Pass. In order to make the power frunk latch work at all - the Job 1 cars needed a software update which is FDRS only. No OTA for that. So for those of us who did that FDRS update to enable the power frunk, Ford just flipped a switch on their back end to make the button appear in the app.

I have a Job 1 car that needed the update. I JUST did that update 2 days ago with FDRS. Within 10 minutes (no app update or OTA car update) the button appeared in my app

I did the FDRS updates back in May, got FP 4.29.2 sometime last week, and 23-PU0110-RAD-PS last night. I checked FP last night after the update completed and it wasn't showing up. We drove to the store this morning and after I got out of the car it was there. Correlation and causation aside, I'm pleased.

Still waiting on the OTA to add the button to my fob, though.

It is possible they added a check for module versions to add the button to fordpass once all conditions are met. So after an OTA, your car reports back current software levels and the database gets updated. That could be triggering the button to appear.

So not so much the update itself, but just a side effect of getting an update at all.

That makes perfect sense

Just got this notification today while my partner is at work with the car. I’m in EA - did anyone else get this?

Wasn’t the old update just for heating the battery not cooling????
