Howdy! I have a 2023 Mach-E Premium AWD STD battery and I use a Grizzl-E Avalanche charging station at home in Ontario, Canada.

I am having an issue where if the car reaches its max charge level overnight and says 'Charge Complete' in the app, preconditioning doesn't seem to happen the next day. I have preconditioning set in the app for 7:30am Mon - Fri. Typically overnight, somewhere early in the morning (say 3am) it reaches its max charge of 80%, but the next day when I go into the car it has not attempted to precondition the car for 7:30am and there is no message in the Message Center.

Yesterday by chance I connected the charger and during its charge I clicked 'Stop Charging' on the app. The message read 'Charging Paused' and funny enough this morning I finally saw the message in the Message center saying 'Cabin Temperature Ready' and the cabin was in fact warm.

Q: Is this normal behavior? If the car gets to "Charge Complete" does the car disconnect from the charger and preconditioning no longer work?

I don’t have this problem, I leave my Mach E plugged in all night and in the morning the says cabin preconditioning is on.

Unless the feature was turned off by accident during an update

It works for me too in terms of preconditioning the cabin, but I don't see the battery temperature getting any higher than it normally is or the battery getting any more KWh at the end.

What charger are you using? I am curious if it is a setting on the charger rather than the car?

Same question to you, what charger are you using?

Have you tested or observed if the car actually preconditions? Typically you should hear the car making all the noises as it preconditions… I ask because the FordPass app may not be reflecting the message but the car may be preconditioning.

Sadly I have, when entering the vehicle the next day, nothing has happened as it is still freezing from our Canadian weather.

Also, this morning when I paused the connection, the car was actually toasty reflecting what it said in the app.

I would check the charging schedule on the charger. I once had a schedule on my ChagePoint Home Flex and the pre-conditioning didn’t occur because the charger wasn’t supplying power.
I switched to controlling only in the car and it worked again.

Walbox Pulsar Plus 40 amp, and I don't have any schedules enabled on it. But it is set to 20 amps, so maybe it should be more for the battery preconditioning to work? I will test for the upcoming Sunday trip...

Do you have any charging times programmed into your EVSE? Also did you program your departure times in FP or using SYNC? I would suggest setting them in the car and not by FP if that is how you have set them.

I use a Grizzl-E Avalanche
I have the Avalanche and it works fine to reach max charge and then still pre-condition based on departure times. Double check your departure times are configured in the car.

For all those asking, the Avalanche only has a single configuration setting, the DIP switches that set its power output.

You may consider looking at the single LED light on the Avalanche when you approach the car in the morning. The color and whether its blinking will tell you what its doing. (idle or delivering power)

That is a good question as 20 amps would not provide full power to the heater. So would the heater work correctly but not operate at full power or would it also draw power from the HVB? If it were to draw power from the HVB would that preclude preconditioning? My car is in a heated garage so I never precondition so I have no idea. I will have to go back and read some of the threads on this subject!
