Hey everyone, I’ve got a situation I’m struggling with and I could use some additional thoughts.

I put a RWD CA Rt 1 on order in Nov 21. I decided I wanted AWD in January for the faster motor (I live in Southern California, so I don’t need AWD), so I changed my order. This reset my spot in line, which made the wait excruciating. Around May I decided I couldn’t take it, so I bought a LR Premium RWD (with a markup). I love it, and am very happy. Now, my CA Rt 1 is due to arrive, and it’s really tempting to trade in the Premium for it. I’ve grown to love the Premium features though. The speakers are nice, and the power lift gate is a family favorite. I’m having a hard time deciding if the extra power is worthwhile.

I’m sorta looking for folks to tell me that it’s not worth it, and I should just keep what I’ve got. Thoughts?

If you like it...keep it. But who am I to talk, I just traded my Select AWD for a GT. Was it worth it....YES. But that's just my opinion ;) I had the automatic liftgate on my select, but my GT doesn't have it. I think I used it once in a year, so I don't really care. Maybe just take your new one for a test drive and see if it is worth it for you. I was thinking I wouldn't notice a difference...but there was a huge difference between them when driven. That's the only way you will be sure.

More power - nice.
Less range - road trip minus.
Power lift gate - is that really on your list?
Check the resale on your current car. The market was unreal a while back. You could make money by selling.

Do not compromise on the features you use every time when you are in the car. Premium sound, power tail gate, premium interior,(not sure about the glass roof) etc.

Once you have them you can not NOT have them. There will be penalty from your family ? . We don't want that bro :D

I personally wouldn’t go from Premium to Route 1 if for no other reason than the headlights. The projectors are significantly better than the reflector lights and all of the other Premium upgrades (not sure if you have gray or black interior) only help.

If you love to floor it and get maximum acceleration every moment, maybe the day to day experience in any AWD would be worthwhile. Otherwise, I would keep the Premium EX.

If you like your car, I recommend you keep it. I see no point in taking on the hassle of trading for a new car that may be slightly better in some ways, and slightly worse in other ways, and could possibly turn out to be a lemon.

Life is too short to waste any of it on needless car trades. Of course, if you're the kind of person who just loves needless car trades, then have at it!

The B&O sound system in the Premium is absolutely the only reason I didn't order the CA Rt 1 - if they'd made that sound system available in the Rt 1, I would've ordered it. But great sound in a car means something to me, and may not matter as much to you.
