I started a thread last week and appreciate the information provided. While I liked the idea of putting a pool noodle on the garage door to protect the hatch from getting scratched on my garage door, I was looking for a different solution. I ordered from Amazon new 27" struts, and they worked great. I couldn't measure how far the top of the liftgate was reduced, but the bottom edge dropped by about 8", and now the liftgate doesn't hit the garage door. They are a little stiffer, but hopefully, it is because they are new. Installation was very easy.

Do you have pictures? Did you replace the stock struts that lift the liftgate? Is the motor not expecting more/less to work with? I feel like this would lead to motor failure a some point in the future.
