My 2021 CA Route 1 has a manual liftgate and the latch has stopped working properly (sometimes doesn't open, sometimes doesn't close). The dealer has diagnosed a bad actuator in the latch and wants $950 to replace it. That's crazy to me for a simple door latch. The aftermarket part is $50 and the Ford part is $268. How hard is it to replace that latch myself? I'm not trying to add the power liftgate feature (but maybe i should???), just replace the latch.
Do I have to program the new part somehow to have it work with my car?
