This is a complicated issue and I hope someone can help. We have a new 2023 Mach E premium. Trying to connect to my home wifi network. I'm using T-Mobile 5G internet. There is a strong wifi signal in the garage and my previous Tesla had no trouble connecting. I am unable to log on to my network from the car. I've repeatedly inserted the correct password and each time it is rejected. We've tried disabling the 2.4 and the 5 g networks without success. I then drove the car to a friend nearby and was able to connect to his wifi immediately without issue.

i'n planning to discuss this with the tech person at my Ford dealer but am hoping that someone else has faced this issue and can advise. Thanks.

What kind of router are you using? Do you have any kind of MAC address filtering going on? What about wifi interference from neighbors, is that possible?

The router is built in to the Tmobile gateway. Don't know about any filtering. Friend suggested that I bypass the gateway and use another router. Maybe??? Worked fine on Tesla!

I’m not sure if it’s the same situation, but I couldn’t get my MME to connect to my 5g WiFi (hotspot through iPhone) until I checked the box “Maximize Compatibility”.
Once that was checked my MME connected right up. Maybe there is a similar checkbox/option in the TMobile gateway?

Two things you can try. Make sure your password doesn't have any special characters. The other is choosing the language. When you have the keyboard up to type in your password, touch the "world" icon. Select a different language other than "English". then go back and select "English" again and type in your password. Hopefully one of those will help you out.

I couldn't get my Mach E to connect to my normal home wifi. I set up a guest wifi network on the same router and it was able to connect to that.

What does the car need from a home wifi connection? I think it downloads OTAs from cellular, even if a wifi connection is present?

Away from home, you can use the streaming apps via wifi, so that's definitely useful. But, I'm guessing you are not streaming videos in car while in your garage.

I noticed parked in my driveway and the car has a tiny weak or no connection to my wifi and it hasn't bothered me in what I can do.

Some of the 'entertainment' apps use wifi. Otherwise it's used for UPLOADING statistics to Ford. I think there is one specific firmware update that uses WiFi, but I don't remember which one it is.

I would second markboris. When I was connecting my Mach-e and my wallbox evse, neither would connect. I learned neither likes passwords with special characters. I created a guest network, used a simplified password, no special characters and all has been well since.

I'm much appreciating the suggestions here. If it's true that the car downloads software updates by cellular, then there is no need to connect to wifi as far as i can see. BTW, my password has no special characters...just numbers and lower case letters. And evidently, T-Mobile does not have an allowance for a guest network, unless I piggyback my own router on top of their gateway.

I am having the SAME problem after switching (experimenting) with tmobile 5G gateway

- the car used to connect just fine with cable internet modem+router
- I kept the same SSID & password as before to avoid changing passwords for all my devices
- All other devices can connect just fine
- The issue is with some incompatibility with Tmobile 5G gateway for sure only with FORD SYNC.
- My phone is also Tmobile. Ford sync can connect just fine to a mobile hotspot from the phone.
- my password is simple, just numbers and chars.
- i have tried the keyboard change to something and back to US english -> no luck.

my gut feeling is that this is likely happening as this gateway supports WPA3 and WPA2/WPA3 is the default setting. i will run a few more experiments downgrading WPA over the weekend just to see if that is the issue.

Yeah, just drop it to WPA 2 only, and see if the car connects.
I'm curious myself, although I don't have the problem.

I have two locations for wifi. After some recent update, last being BLM-PE it will no longer save both wifi passwords. It will save the wifi at the current location, but when I return to the other location I need to resubmit password. It use to have no problem saving both location passwords. Any suggestions? Anyone else having this problem?
