I recently exited the factory warranty (had the car for three years) and am now in overtime (Ford PremiumCare extended warranty). I'm very glad to have the protection. So far the two big ticket repairs that my car has needed were an oil pump replacement (yes, the car has them - two of them in fact), and an HVBJB replacement. Had the former been this year rather than last, I would have had a sizable repair bill. As for the HVBJB, I suspect it would depend on where it stood in relationship to the recall that was issued for them.

All that said, given how many miles you're putting on your car, AFAIK the longest PremiumCare warranty is for 100K miles, so if you keep up the amount of driving you're doing, you'd likely reach that in around five years. Judt something to factor as you consider what to do.

Best of luck in your decision and glad you love your car so much!!
Powertrain, which includes HVBJB, is covered for 8 years 100K miles warranty

My 22 just turned 3 and I still ā¤ love it. Have only 12000 miles on it Very low mileage.
I bought the 8 years/60k for less than $1000 and points. First time I ever bought an extended warranty. Time will tell.

I plan to keep it for at least 8 years!

'22 purchased in Nov 2022. 85k miles. Got a new HVBJB under warranty at 17k. Exactly no problems since then. No noticeable drop in range (I track every trip I make in a spreadsheet) Replaced the OEM tires at 37k, still going strong on my Michelin Cross Climate 2s since then. Expect to need a new set before winter this year at roughly 100k total miles, so I should get 60k or so on these tires. A couple cabin air filters, otherwise zero maintenance.

So I have about 115000 miles on my 21. Only issues have hvbc and just recently the front drive motor. The hvbc was warranty. Drive was 2400 out of pocket but, parts was only around 400 labor is what was expensive. Still happy with it.

I am at 50K miles and glad I bought an extended warranty. For the last 9 months I have had nothing but issues with the front camera and collision avoidance systems. Adaptive cruise will not work either. I am on my third dealer visit now, switched to a different dealer to see if they can finally fix it. My warranty has paid out 5-10k already.

-Cables to the camera, replaced twice
-IPMA module replaced
-Nanny camera replaced
-Pedestrian alert sensors being replaced now
- Who knows what else ...

So the concern about the electronics is definitely legitimate. And none of the issues I have had are directly related to the car being an EV.

My 2021 has 86K miles on it. I did not get the extended warranty at the time. I don’t remember one being offered. I have had one repair done. I rear drive shaft needed to be replaced. That cost me $700. Everything has been covered by the warranties. I just had an oil pump on the battery replaced. That would have been a big bill.

I love driving this car, but no warranty is concerning. So, I did the responsible thing and ordered a new 2025 GT with the extended warranty (5 yrs. 125k miles). My new car should be delivered this month. I could not bear the thought of going back to an ICE car.

3 years with my 22 Premium, over 14k miles. No issues, had the HVBJB repair done. I still enjoy driving it, and it still looks real nice!

The complex electronics in mid to high end vehicles in addition to thousands of mechanical parts makes me never want a new ICE vehicle again. Full disclosure, I bought the premium EV extended warranty.

I have a 2021 Job 1 and to be honest it looks like it was just driven off the showroom. I have 27K miles on it over the years the tech started off bad and got better with updates. Love the car and will hold it until the redesigned Mach-e hoping 2026, or the Riven midsize SUV comes. or the all-new electric Jeep Recon, or the NEW Scout SUV. For sure staying electric.
Couldn't agree more. '21 Job 1 owner. Many early hiccups with the tech, but zero complaints over the past 12 months. They've even begun pushing me latest updates again. 51k miles - a new set of tires, and a few rotations, wiper fluid, and that's it.

I have ā€˜21 Premium AWD ER and bought the ext warranty. I haven’t had any repairs needed except warranty/recall work that was covered. Ive seen posts with just one thing goes out like a camera, sensor, etc and it’s $1000+ to repair. There are 3 online ford dealers that sell ext warranties at a big discount compared to most dealers, Flood, Granger and Ziegler. I got a 8yr 100k mile $100 ded as I don’t drive but 10k miles a year and plan to keep the car for awhie. I paid about $1800.
I have a 2021 that has been near trouble free other than a few recall/software issues. Am currently having an intermittent problem with the front camera - I have a Ford extended warranty that apparently doesn't cover the front camera repair. (also note that they won't repair it because it doesn't show up when they do the diagnostic test or test drive - even though I have shown them messages in the Ford app that the camera needs serviced).

My 2022 MME hits 3 yeArs in July. Only have 16000 miles. I owned and operated a small Ford dealership for 25 years and say that at least 90% of customers that purchased Extended warranties never used them. It’s a huge money maker for Ford.

I have a 23 premium rwd with only 13k on it so far but my car was a cool so I have and extra year and 12k more miles. My thought is electric cars have fewer parts but when they need service the dealer will make up the money in one visit. I had a problem with mine and they replaced a bunch of stuff, I can imagine how much it cost ford. I would recommend always buy an extended warranty just in case.

I have a ā€˜23 Premium been in a few times for minor warranty items. Just out of warranty with some presumably tech/update issues arose I can’t connect PAAK, no blue cruise, and have electrical system drain errors popping up again (after a month +). Waiting for Ford to confirm a 5 +/- hour update will fix it.

Regarding the extended warranty I was advised if there isn’t a service letter / bulletin the extended warranty doesn’t cover it. Not sure it is worth it as fast as I put miles on it
We've had our CR1 for 2.5 years with no issues until today when the "Electrical System Drain" error popped up - took it to Ford (still under warranty) and they said there's a programming process to correct this and takes over a day to complete so they have it. They stated there's a TSB on this particular issue. Will post an update on the results.
