I’m recently experiencing a problem where my homelink only works to open my garage intermittently. No conditions changed and seems to be no rhyme or reason. Checked my other remotes and they work with no issue. Any ideas of how troubleshoot?

Did you recently replace any light bulbs in the house with LED ones? Perhaps the actual garage door lights? I once had a similar problem and it turned out that the LED bulbs I used were extremely "noisy" RF-wise and was drowning out the signal from the car's homelink transmitter. Replaced the bulbs with a different manufacturer and the problem went away. That was 10+ years ago (same LED bulbs are still in the openers).

Whenever I’ve seen that, it affected all remotes, not just Homelink. And the problem only occurred when the light was on - I open the door from my car, back out of the garage and it won’t close until the light goes off.

So, my openers are about 20 years old at this point. Not internet capable by themselves, has the purple learn button, and uses the 315 Mhz band. Later on, Chamberlain/LiftMaster came out with new control panels that could work on the newer 390 Mhz band and with the right gateway module, could be internet accessible. Those panels also came with their own independent learn button and receiver. I programmed my HomeLink buttons using the control panel's learn button, not the learn button on the opener. So the car's buttons would work just fine because the receiver was far enough away from the bad LED bulbs, and on a different frequency, whereas the 315 Mhz remotes relied on the receiver/antenna in the opener which was about 4 inches from the bad LED bulbs.

Some bulbs emit noise when they are off also. Right now our one garage is very hesitant to open, and we've played around a bit, but I'm going to have to try some old fashioned bulbs and see if the problem goes away.

The Philips HUE Smart bulbs we have as regular garage bulbs seem to be pretty good in terms of not being too noisy.

These were the ones that I put in my openers which have worked great (probably not available anymore):

I just started having this same problem. Were you able to troubleshoot it/figure out how to fix?

Strange enough one of my garage doors had has intermittent issues lately. After reading this and looking back it might have coincided with a new lamp installed in the room above garage right above one of the garage doors. For those with bulb/door opener issues do you think bulb in the room above the garage is close enough to be causing interference issues? The other garage opener next to it doesn't have any issues.

Did you recently replace a lightbulb in your house with an LED bulb? That LED bulb could be bad and giving off a lot of RFI.

Yes, absolutely.
