I had the same problems with my GT when I pick it up from the dealer. I decided to do nothing and just enjoy my new toy. Later, after a few days, FordPass started working properly, in settings all services were connected and bluecruise was activated.
i was actually thinking and hoping that this might happen, but it's been a few weeks and I assume that the failure of the gateway module to update at the dealer probably suggests that it is unlikely.

Unfortunately, you did not give the time to things set up, In my opinion your real problems started at this moment:

......

I went back to the dealer on November 23 at 7:30am. My understanding is that the technician tried to update the "gateway module," but that the update would not work. .....

Are you suggesting that something the dealer technician did might have caused the prolonged issues? It's an interesting theory, I guess, but should I really have assumed that I shouldn't call the dealer when the app was locked up and multiple other features weren't working?

With parts, modules, chip shortages - it's not unusual to wait for parts - look at the HVBJB parts that took weeks for some.

My Lightning took 6 weeks to get an OTA update - once it did - all the connected services functions worked.

Why don't you call: Ford OTA Team: 833-926-3233 M-F 8:00 am to 11:00 pm EST, Saturday 8-8.

Have you tried putting it on your wifi and waiting a while? It's under the connectivity tab I believe in the car.

I have no faith in dealers, or maybe humanity in general. The number of halfassed things I've found corresponds to the number of trips I've had any vehicle at a dealer. If they're not leaving something half assembled or grease-pawed up, they're lying. Boy do they lie. I've bought 3 fords this year and it took a few days for everything to show up in the app. My MME gets updates faster than most, my F150, well I update it with my ford tools. Not everyone can drop the $1300 for the FDRS access though.

Have you gone to ATT's site to see if your TCU is showing up in their system?

I don’t blame you or technician, it’s only a theory. But knowing how software and hardware works in modern days, I suspect an attempt to update the module which wasn’t yet ready can cause major bugs. In mean time when I had this problems I also noticed FordPass showed location of my GT in Germany. That’s when I started to be worried, but then I thought maybe this is good sign and I just need to wait few more days.

I put it on my wifi over a week ago, but when you say to wait a while, do you mean I should leave the car on during that time period?

How would I check the TCU on ATT's site? I've never had that suggested to me before.

Thanks for your help.

This thread made me check my app as it’s been a little over a month since I picked up my GTPE. bluecruise came with the vehicle so is this screen ok?

Expiration date will appear soon, if is active, just enjoy it, expiration day is 3 year from the moment you took ownership of the car.

If it's registering with ATT, your TCU is likely not defective, however if the dealer forced any updates onto the vehicle it could have introduced its own issues. The vehicle comes with free data automatically -- sign up at ATT. If you already have service with them, create a new account and/or do not link w/ previous ATT service. If you decide to end up activating the vehicles data plan, you can get it for $15/mo unlimited with some haggling.

I just checked the location and it has it where it was when it last updated, which was on the way home from the dealer on 11/19. It seems like something froze up during my drive home (maybe it was attempting an OTA update), and now it just can't connect to Ford.

Ford has a deal with ATT regarding the OTA updates that's independent of the data plan however. All new fords are continually pushing out telemetry data to Ford if you're using the wifi hotspot feature or not. One benefit to using the in-car data is that the antennas are not only placed in a better spot, they're much higher gain and thus the vehicle can remain connected in areas where you phone can no longer keep a viable connection to the towers due to the increased gain of the antennas in the vehicle. They're about 3x as powerful as those on your phone, particularly on the bands that have better penetration (sub 1GHz freqs).

I'll second what other others have suggested about this being unlikely to be a hardware problem. Please understand this: the Ford Mustang Mach E is an outstanding vehicle from a hardware perspective. But the software side is still quite buggy. This includes both car-side bugs with the SYNC system, and also bugs in how our cars/apps interact with Ford servers. Further, it can sometimes be a breakdown caused by a dealer not pushing the right buttons, submitting the right paperwork, etc.

MANY people have posted about problems getting their cars set up properly off the lot - BlueCruise is the most common complaint, but also FordPass, PAAK, etc.

The fact that you are not seeing "connected services" in your Ford.com account is a STRONG indication that the problem lies somewhere between Ford corporate and your dealership. Not in replacing a module.

Ok, so with all that being said, I'm not sure exactly how to help you. But here is what I would suggest:
1. Be patient. It will work out. You'll love the car.
2. Send a DM to @Ford Motor Company with your VIN, dealership, and problem description. They will start working the problem on the backend.

I'm guessing that within a week your problems will be solved. Just remember that you'll catch more flies with honey.

?. I thought it was just hardware and had no idea it was subscription based. I’m going to have to try it now ?‍?

Unfortunate that you encountered this problem. I see that @Mike G ran your VIN and offered some info. If the tech caused an issue with the GSW, I would look for a Dealership with a more competent EV tech.

If you have not already, I would try cycling the Modem in the car to see if that gets the TCU to call home. FYI, you should see the Up/Down arrow in upper right corner of the Sync screen.

Very glad I sold mine for more than I paid for it (2022 me gt) and bought an ioniq 5 ltd. best of luck, but the dyed in the wool ford fans here will say it is your fault, you expect to much from a new car and that this is to be expected in the day and age of part/chip shortages.

I call bullshit and ford management is lacking and does nothing to address known issues.

You can search my profile/posts and see the bullshit I went through with my dealer selling an unfit/unsafe car and telling me they were going to deactivate it if I don't hand it over to them when they showed up at my door unannounced to take my car away .
