I have a related question. I have the Juicebox EVSE max 40 amp version.

My overall goal is to be able to adjust the upper charge limit at will on my iPhone (without having to get into the car). Since I cannot adjust the upper charge limit on the FordPass app, I was hoping to use the Juicebox app to do this.

For example, let's say my MME has a current state of charge of 70%. I plan on leaving the next day at some point and I want to leave with the battery at 85%. But because I do not know my exact departure time, I cannot use the scheduled charge feature. Instead, a couple hours before I leave, I want to manually start the car charging from my iPhone.

My original plan was to set the MME to charge to a max of 100% and to rely solely on the Juicebox app to adjust and control the actual upper limit. I tried this out and it seemed to work. But on the MME display, instead of the message "charged limit reached" or whatever that exact message normally is, the MME said "Charging station paused".

1) Is this the best way to do what I am trying to accomplish with the Juicebox?
2) Is it safe to keep the MME in this "charging station paused" mode for several hours?

Thank you,
Joe
1) Um, why can't you adjust the upper charge limit in FordPass? Set it for 85%. Gets to that 2 hours before leaving. So?

2) Yes.

I saw @RickMachE responded and he is more knowledgeable then I am.

“charging station paused” is okay.

You must Set the MME to 85% with either a charging schedule, say 8pm to 12pm (noon) if you have TOD pricing, or Anytime. Do this for both daily and weekends. I don’t use departure time; I remote start 10 minutes before I leave.

Either set the JuiceBox to a Smart Charging schedule (same 8pm -12pm) or allow it to charge whenever the MME accepts charging.

Only the MME can control the upper SOC 85% limit. The JuiceBox will send power to the MME until it stops accepting charging.

Thank you for your reply. I guess I don't know how to set the upper charge limit using the FordPass app. I played with the app for quite a while but could not figure it out. Please let me know how to adjust the upper limit from the app without having to get into the car.

Thanks again,
Joe

Go to Previously Charged Locations, choose the one that coincides with your home charger location, save location as HOME. That will give you the location to setup the upper limit info.
