I solved the issue with the charging stopping before it reached the 90% I have FordPass set to.

I have my time of day schedule set on the MME through FordPass.

I have my JuiceBox 32 app set to minimum = 80 kWh.

I found that if the JuiceBox app minimum was set to 10 kWh, it would stop charging when the charging session hit 10 kWh. By setting the minimum to 80 kWh, the MME will charge until SOC hits my 90% desired SOC setting.

Problem solved!

No. It has no idea of the car's state of charge.

That wasn’t my point. What I meant was that if you set up the JuiceBox minimum charge at 10 kWh, it will stop charging when the session reaches 10 kWh. If you set the minimum charge to 80 kWh, the car’s settings will stop the charging (I use 90%)

What you've accomplished is overriding an incorrect setting on the Juicebox with another setting. No minimum setting is needed when it is set correctly.

JuiceBox came with no user manual. I’m using trial and error. Now it is working as I want instead of stopping before hitting my desired 90% SOC in my desired charging time-of-day window.

Do you know the correct settings? I’ll try it.

Mine came with a card that referred me to the online manual, which I then downloaded. https://support-emobility.enelx.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405615011227-Welcome-to-JuiceBox

I am pretty sure that you had issues because you set the current state of charge as I referenced before. Mine right now shows that it added 2kWh last time. It doesn't add to that, it resets each time. I've had zero issue with it not charging, and have it set for the same off-peak hours as the car, which prevents the car from charging during peak times even if it tries to (i.e. it's cold, tries to warm battery during peak hours even though fully charged). Very easy to override, simply select Charge Now.

It's great that you were able to override whatever issue you had by setting a minimum charge level, but that is not needed with proper setup. They have a support line if you want to get around that, or leave it if it's working.

Thanks. I prefer to do it the right way. If you have the charging window set on JuiceBox, do you have FordPass set to Anytime or Charge when plugged in?

I have the charging windows identical on both - 7PM - 11AM Mon - Fri, all day on weekends. This prevents the car from charging during peak hours or if it hiccups, i.e. the JuiceBox will not give it power.

In the car, it's setup by my utility company, but when I put it in I did it for 7PM - 6:55PM on weekends because people had trouble with 24 hour settings.

Okay..I turned off minimum charge on the JuiceBox and set the charging window 8pm -5am on both the JuiceBox and the MME (weekdays & weekends). I’ll test the new settings next time I charge, probably Saturday. Thanks again.

Sure. If that doesn't work, then again you need to look at whether you may have played around with the screen that says how much charge it is starting with (should be zero).

Actually, let's easily eliminate that potential problem

1) Open app on phone (I have Android)
2) Should say "Plugged In" and Waiting For "Time of use" period
3) Swipe right to left in the middle of the screen. You should now have a white screen that either says "Added Range", "Added Energy", or "Added Charge". Click in the dead center to toggle through each.
4) At the bottom of each screen you should see a ZERO on the left and either an 88/91 (energy), 100 (%), or 27X or 28X miles. If you take your finger and move the left indicator, the screen should change to "current" instead of added. That's the setting that tells it you are not starting from zero, which can cause the problem you have. You want it on zero and the max on the right. Easy to change.

That’s what the app now shows. I have iOS which seems like the app is the same. Thanks, as the manual was no help.

Just so you know. After taking your advice the JuiceBox works as it’s intended. I think part of the solution was that I stopped screwing with the settings.

I have a related question. I have the Juicebox EVSE max 40 amp version.

My overall goal is to be able to adjust the upper charge limit at will on my iPhone (without having to get into the car). Since I cannot adjust the upper charge limit on the FordPass app, I was hoping to use the Juicebox app to do this.

For example, let's say my MME has a current state of charge of 70%. I plan on leaving the next day at some point and I want to leave with the battery at 85%. But because I do not know my exact departure time, I cannot use the scheduled charge feature. Instead, a couple hours before I leave, I want to manually start the car charging from my iPhone.

My original plan was to set the MME to charge to a max of 100% and to rely solely on the Juicebox app to adjust and control the actual upper limit. I tried this out and it seemed to work. But on the MME display, instead of the message "charged limit reached" or whatever that exact message normally is, the MME said "Charging station paused".

1) Is this the best way to do what I am trying to accomplish with the Juicebox?
2) Is it safe to keep the MME in this "charging station paused" mode for several hours?

Thank you,
Joe
