Hello,
I was finally able to test drive a Mach E (Standard) in late August. I put my order in that day for a Premium Extended AWD, as the dealer told me it would be "14 weeks, max", before doing any research about the actual lead times.
Long story short, I needed another vehicle sooner than that due giving my current vehicle to my daughter who now drives, and seeing that these are taking half a year+ now, I called around to every dealership within a 60 mile radius to put me on a list if any happen to pop up.
Saturday I got a call from a local dealer with a used Premium, exact options that I ordered, including color, but they wanted MSRP of a new one, for a car with 7800 miles on it.
I spoke to my wife, we went and test drove it and bought it even though we lost out on the tax credit. We were kicking around the idea of buying a used car for our daughter to use until our order came in, but that would have been a loss of money in the end as well with how high used car prices are right now locally.
I feel like a moron for losing the tax credit, and paying full price for a used vehicle, but I tried to talk them down, but dealers hold all of the cards right now.
Oh well, I got the car myself and my wife loved about 6 months sooner than we would have (If not later).
I was upset about it for a day or two, but am over it now. Especially with all of the horror story's about dealer markups. I wish I would have ordered earlier in the year, but I wanted to test drive one first, and nobody had one on a lot until August around here.
I'm glad I found this forum, lots of great information... now I just need that OTA software update to happen already....
tldr; Bought a used Mach E with 7800 miles for full MSRP + don't get the federal credit. The market is crazy right now.
