Two points.

1) Warranty starts at date demo was put into service. Ask for the 6 month extension that the dealer can give for very little dollars, makes it 42/42,000.

2) Please do all module updates shown in FDRS, until none remain.

I never thought about asking them to update all of the software, that is a great idea and may save them a lot of "You're rolling with the latest software" messages that would otherwise be headed their way.
They’ll probably push back on doing it.
Different argument options:
- If they charge you “Dealer Prep”, I’d argue updates are dealer prep.
- Some of the updates are considered recalls and service bulletins. That said, I’d ask them if they deliver cars with outstanding recalls and service bulletins.
Ford pays them to do recalls and service bulletins. For those updates that are not recalls and service bulletins, they’ll already be plugged in running system updates. It shouldn’t take much more to do the rest.
- Worst case scenario for them, it may take 1 service tech 1-2 hours to do it. If they charge $125/hour for service techs, we’re talking $250 at most.

It's not an issue. The IRS addresses this in their information and specifically says if a demo isn't titled, it's new.

IRS website . Im not arguing a point that I don't personally know as fact . Im just trying to caution against believing the dealer on this . They want to sell the car so anything may be promised.
Would a Car Fax report show a clean title or if it's already registered ?

Read the last sentence in #8. That's it.

And the non-titled part is confirmed when they hand you the Certificate of Origin instead of a title.

Im not fighting with you . We seem to agree ...BUT...I am cautioning the perspective buyer to do their due diligence and make sure the car IS clean . Finding out that the dealer lied to them at tax time does zero good and there would be no recourse except to come back here to rant .

I would suggest look at some low mileage used GT models for sale as comparison. Quick search I found a 21 GT with 20K miles for sale at $39K. 21 GT with 4.5K miles at $42K. I think $52K after rebate price for 2023 with 2K miles is reasonable if you care about model years and the warranty. I probably would just go with a used low mile GT. The HVBJB is covered under the 100K power train warranty. Bumper to Bumper is just luck. My MME is about to hit 36K and I haven't used the warranty even once. It is always small software problems that annoys you.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. With all the moneys you save they could extend the bumper to bumper warrany on the car. We bought our warranty directly from Ford as the dealership was trying to charge more than Ford direct would charge.

You said: "a quick search around me shows the $11k off seems about right"

A quick search around isn't going to reveal what can be negotiated off in this climate of overstocked MMEs.
If it helps, I spent 8 years of my career doing advertising for local auto dealers.

I know how to “quick search” faster than the average person. ?

But either way, Roughly $15k off MSRP with the tax credit still sounds about right to me for an untitled GT demo.

For those curious, the sticker is $66,530 and getting it for $55,530 before their trade-in. Is the consensus that is a good or bad deal? Seems to be mixed. I thought it was pretty good, but maybe not...
Customers like us don’t know shit. Only dealers know if it’s a good price or not (by virtue of their ability / willingness to extend a better deal).

Email five dealers and offer them a lower price than 55 on a similar vehicle. See if they take it. Let them compete for your business.

I had the same thoughts regarding vehicle registration/rebate, even though the dealer assured me it had not been registered. So I paid $40 for a Carfax report, just for the peace of mind (rebate was $7,500 at that time). Also, when asking the dealer for a warranty extension, they referred my request to their Regional Rep, who was non-responsive. So I contacted Ford via the reps who frequent this board and a few days later, got a call from a Michigan VP's office informing me of the extension (that's pretty responsive, if ya ask me!). Good luck and safe driving. As an addendum, I recently sprung for a Granger extended warranty.

Thanks everyone. I believe it was not titled, so he should get the tax credit. The rebate in Oct was $6,250 but not anymore. The current rebate on the GT is only $3k. They are also getting 48 months at 0% interest.

I just say a premium AWD extended range for $49K in Lynnwood Washington
