That will work as long as the wall charger isn't expecting to use the Neutral for anything while its 14-50 pigtail is connected.

Which it probably won't. But we don't know for sure.
Agreed, cheapest option to try first. I would first check to see if the box even has a white wire in it and maybe it's just not used. Just shut the breaker and take a look at the inside of the outlet box. Also I assume the outlet is for a current dryer and still need to operate. However with that said the adapter should work for the Ford 240V charger and many others.

I'm also a MME newbee. Does the Ford mobile charge come with adaptors?

The mobile charger comes with two options. A standard 120V plug and a 240V NEMA 14-50 plug.

I can confirm that the Ford Mobile Charger that comes with the car (in the US) does not use the neutral when charging from a 240V source, and the inexpensive NEMA 6-50P to 14-50R adapters (which simply drop the neutral connection) work.

I have this one (sadly not available anymore, though perhaps from another source - it was only $15), and it works with my charger at my father in laws place which only has a NEMA 6-50R outlet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R7W8DN2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

I do recommend that you check the breaker in your panel. It should be a 2-pole 50A. If it is a 2-pole 40A then it is not up to code, but would still work with the Ford charger (32A max continuous), but not with any other 40A continuous chargers (unless you dialed them back down to 32A or less). If it is anything else then it wouldn't be safe to use.

I purchased the same adapter but haven't gotten around to testing it out yet. Thanks for confirming that it works. ?

Mine is in a workbench drawer. Still in the original packaging/box. Same one.
