Ordered 2021 MAch-E GT PPE on July 19th 2021
Built Oct 12th 2021
Sitting at SLC Rail since November 16, 2021

Received one email from Ford when the first delivery window was missed. Now I just check my tracker every week and see it slipping another week, then another week.. Not sure what to believe.

Rail yard is 3 miles from my dealer. Definitely appears to be a QC hold. Would just really appreciate some kind of real communication.

Within minutes of me getting off the phone the hold on my car was released and the vehicle appeared with pendingpickup status. That's too much of a coincidence given that it had been 25 days since any update. My guess is that the hold was real and that if a dealer is equipped to test or remedy the problem that they can release the hold and accept delivery.
You’re luckier than I—mine remains on hold for the time being.

I was told today any with a Glass roof are on hold. My GTPE with glass roof was built 10/16 and has been sitting at the rail yard near my dealer since 11/29.

Bob,
I am kind of tracking your progress since I have a similar car (Premium) stuck in Ayer, MA location!
My dealer told me expected delivery date is Dec 17-23 (it used to be Dec 25 but moved up by 2 days).

Due to my unique situation (I am traveling Dec18-Jan5) I am going in tomorrow to the dealer and paying full price of the car with cashier check!
Not taking any chances...

In a really odd sort of way delays are not bothering me since I can't pick up the car anyways.
However dealer said my son can pick it up if we get all the paperwork done tomorrow.

Either way I am okay.
I really want the transaction done for the year 2021 for the tax purposes...

Keep us updated on your progress.

Even so, I sure hope you get it before you leave! I’m checking daily, and it still has an ā€˜on hold’ status. The good news is that when it’s pickup status changes to ā€˜pending,’ I’ll see it, and I also am receiving emails for every car that’s being delivered to my dealer, so when my VIN pops up, I’ll know it right away. I’m hoping it’s before we close out 2021!

My GTPE doesn’t have a glass roof and it is also on hold. So perhaps other reasons as well……..

But, I’m not sure if you were told this or not regarding yours, but my friend’s car has a factory hold on it & is not being released to the dealer. No one seems to know why. Build week was 9/11 (per Ford) or 9/21 (per window sticker). At any rate, it’s been at the Laurel rail yard (Billings) since 10/21. The Ford tracker says it’s been delivered to the dealer, but it has not. It had been delivered to Kansas City on 9/27. That’s all we know. Original order was 6-11 for a premium.
My situation is similar. Order date for my Select was June 5th.
Build date/week was 9/10.
Palsapp said it was delivered to Argentine ramp on 9/22.
The tracking site has been slipping the date, week by week, from dates of Oct. 23rd all the way through Dec. 4th.
Then all of a sudden the non-Ford affiliated tracking page failed to load the VIN, and the shop.ford.com vehicleordertracking site is returning 502 upstream proxy errors.
In the meantime the website has shifted to "Purchase your Vehicle" as if it was delivered to the dealership.

The dealership called me and said (at first) the order has been cancelled, and said his Ford rep told him to tell me to call customer service.

I called customer service, and the first three people I talked to hung up on me. The first and third times I got connected to the same Ford rep who I could hear for only the first 15 seconds then his mic went dead. The second call, the call failed in the middle of explaining the situation (I wasn't driving and have good cell coverage at my house) The final call I got through to Carol, and she told me that the car had been delivered to the dealership.

So I went on a recon mission to the dealership and there were no Mach E's on the lot. I spoke to the finance manager (all custom orders go through him) and told him what Ford told me. He said we don't have it, I don't know why Ford told you that? I said, look the only explanation where both of your stories checks out (Ford delivered it to you; You don't have it) is that the car was stolen off your lot. So shouldn't we be filing a police report if the vehicle is basically lost?

I intentionally framed it that way because I figured that if the car was stolen or taken by someone else, it would force them to disclose that to me in the face of a police report, or at least get the dealer to approach Ford and say "hey, what's the story, customer is getting a different picture than the one you told me?"

So a day passes and then he calls back and says, "I have an update from Ford, the order wasn't cancelled, the delivery order was cancelled. I don't have more information than that."

I told him this is unacceptable, and Ford needs to contact me. He said he'd pass that on, but as of yet (2 days later) no response from Ford or through the dealership to me.

So my questions are:

1) How did you know it was at the Laurel rail yard? Were you told this, did you get it from Palsapp, or did you do some additional (BNSF) sleuthing?
2) How did you find out about the "factory hold" / "not being released to dealer"?

Any other tips on how to figure out timing and/or location of the vehicle?

How are you pulling this off? Is it a feature that the dealer offers, or do you have some bot searching their online inventory? I would expect a custom order VIN to not show up in that kind of report; if it's slated for delivery to a customer you'd think it'd be held back pending sale than be included in the "for open sale" list?

Purchase step does mean it was delivered unless a glitch in the system.. Super frustrating for sure!

I registered for a free account with United Road. Then I used their website’s OVISS link to set up email reports.

This whole process has been a whirlwind of online sleuthing. I forgot (& can’t seem to replicate) how I got the car tracked to Laurel, but go to the thread under tracking on the main menu. It has a bunch of different tools for searching & info about what info is available depending on your specific location.

Another thing to check is with the dealer on the VVR (vehicle visibility report). It won’t say why, but it will tell you & them the vehicle status. Ours & it seems most cars are being held back by the manufacturer for a ā€œquality control check ā€œ. That means it won’t even be released to the dealer until the problem is resolved.

I found some info re: a Sync 4 glitch that was freezing the screen. It requires a software update/reload & the techs would physically have to go to each location of each car & perform those updates. That’s why the cars are being delivered in dribs & drabs.

Itā€˜s all very secretive & dealers are out of info loop as well.

Last week Monday we were notified that the car was on the lot. We are picking up from out of state & my friend (her car, I’m just helping & own one myself) was on a trip. She canceled one segment & we both met up in Montana yesterday to complete the sale this week.

There is no advance notice that the car is coming - it will just show up. I saw on someone else’s post that their car was sold before he was able to complete the sale process. I haven’t seen official word, but it seems that there’s a 7 day time frame before they’ll sell the car to someone else.

Good luck to you & judging from the dates you gave, I think it will be any day now. It seems there’s an information black hole where it’s a big mystery as to where the car is, what is wrong & when it’ll be delivered & you’re in the middle of it. Very aggravating & frustrating. Try not to lash out at the dealer - they're in that same black hole.

Our Ford tracker said delivered to dealer & complete purchase although dealer did not have custody of it. VVR is the most current & accurate info of the vehicle’s status. Although not real informative with other questions.

Ford really needs to change their policy & be more transparent with the customers re: their orders & why there are delays. I could understand the delays if they were honest & upfront. Omission is a form of lying & these things are not instilling faith & trust in this process.

Still love the car though.

First off, thank the gods for this community, or I'd seriously think my Dealership was F-in with me lol...

Reservation: 5/9/21
Production: 10/21
First Est. Delivery: 11/23-11/29
Second Est. Delivery: 12/21-12/27

On 11/23 (first day of the window and my excitement is already through the roof about any Ford email..) I received an email from Ford saying the delivery date had been changed to 12/21-12/27 (Current Status). I called up the dealership and they stated it shouldn't take that long as the car was at the Railyard (I'm in CO so I'm not sure which Railyard he is referring to). They told me that they will mark it "Hot" and try to get it priority delivered to their lot.

Today (12/13) I received a call from the sales rep saying that the car is being held up for "Quality Control" and that the car won't be released until someone at Ford is able to check the car. He said he tried to Hot Tag the car a few times but isn't getting much response. I asked if 12/21-12/27 was still a realistic time frame and he said he is just not sure.

Reading through the thread here it doesn't seem to be a specific rhyme or reason to hold ups and timing on resolve seems to be all over the place. Unfortunately i only bring another example of the issue. One of my bigger disappointments is going to be missing out on the Tax Credit if the order goes into 2022...

Hoping you all get yours soon! Will follow up with dates and potential resolves if I hear or see anything.
