It seems to be more frequent since the 6.8.0 OTA, but it's happened a few times ever since the car was new a year ago.
Same here. I just thought it may be humidity triggering the wiper, but maybe it’s just a bug.

Software could be part of the problem, and thus an update could have changed the behavior, but it definitely begins with some sort of physical input.

Based on my observations, it only occurs after a period of inactivity - when the car has been parked for about an hour or more. It also almost always occurs when the car is parked outside - not indoors. Finally, it very rarely occurs on overcast days - there typically has to be sun.

I thought it was heat related, but that’s probably not the case. Rather, it is probably combination of dust/pollen accumulating outside, plus the sunlight to refract off the dust.

This is almost definitely a sensor issue because it isn’t limited to the Mach E or even Ford.

Been happening a lot on mine in recent months too. Maybe not entirely bad as wiping dry dust/dirt off the windshield can be helpful too. But probably not good for the wiper blades.

Speaking of which, I'm at almost 50k miles and still on the original (front) blades. And they still work great. Or at least the left one. The right one is starting to streak just a bit. Never had wiper blades hold up this well this long before.

I know you can turn off "Courtesy Wiper" under the Vehicle setting but I guess that would turn it off even when it might be appropriate.

That’s not the issue being described here.

You can adjust it manually on the little dial in the middle of the stock can't you?
The issue is that the rain sensing system is guiding whether it is on or off, which is my main problem. However, I discovered today that you can turn the “sensing” function off from the vehicle menu and then you can operate it as a dumb intermittent wiper. That’s what I’ll do.
