For the last 6 (or so) months, my windshield wipers just randomly come on ... during startup, during driving, on sunny days, on cloudy days ... totally random. This goes for the front and rear wipers.

Yesterday, after going through a touchless car wash (no brushes, just sprays), my wipers kept coming on for one swipe every 20 seconds. I turned off all the wiper controls on the control panel, and it still kept going. I then manually turned on the wipers to 2x speed for a few seconds, and then turned it off, and the 20 second repeats stopped.

Your thoughts?

Make sure the stalk is not in Auto. Push the stalk down one notch.

The rear wiper is controlled by a little nub of a switch on the end of of the wiper stalk. It must be in the FULL DOWN position of the three for it to be off. The windshield control is both a SLOW/FAST setup and an INTERMITTENT setting. The former is actuated by the stalk itself and should be all the way into the bottom position, of three, to be off. The latter should also be in the bottom position, of four?, to be off.

I will tolerate an occasional "courtesy wipe" without any rain in the vicinity in order to leave the automatic wipes kick in when there is sufficient moisture, but default them to the least sensitive settings.

I"m with hybrid2ev it sounds like the stalk is in auto position? Which is one click up of the right stalk

Turn them off when it's not raining.
yeah in auto mode, if they're on, they seem to do a courtesy swipe whenever you start the car regardless of whether it's wet.

There was a recall for wipers, see if you’re car is affected

I think the wiper recall was for faulty waterproofing? Causing the motor to fail?

Might you know where to look to see if our 22 Premium has been recalled for this? Thanks in advance for your reply.
