Is it just me or does anyone else get the random wiper swipe on front wiper. I'll be driving on a clear day, and the wipers make a random swipe (just one). Happens a couple of times per week. Not a huge problem, but I do worry that it will randomly happen while rolling through the car wash and screw something up.

Anyone know why it does this?

My guess would be the sensor believes it detects something so it goes once. It's not something I've noticed happening though.

As for a car wash, I'd always be sure to have the rain sensing wiper setting off when going through them, or it'll definitely go off.

Same for me happens all the time and very random. In garage in AM or on highway sometimes even in drive thru.
Windshield is clean with no bugs and can happen in bright sun or cloudy.
Weird stuff!

Yeah, something trips the rain sensor on the windshield on occasion. I’ve never had a car with an automatic rain sensor that didn’t do this from time to time. If you don’t want to deal with it, turn the wipers from Auto to Off, and then just turn them back on to Auto (or higher) when it’s actually raining.

This happens on our Edge occasionally.... just recently as we were pulling in to the garage. Maybe a drop of water fell from the door, right on the sensor???
Also, recently forgot to switch wipers off when going through car wash, they did not activate. It appears the auto wipers are disabled in neutral but more testing is required to confirm this.

Do you have the courtesy wiper setting on?

That just makes it wipe an extra time a few seconds after it's done with the 3 wipes from using the washers.

Auto wipers. Common in any auto wipers vehicle I've owned. Sometimes it doesn't do it for months sometimes 3 times in a day. When its not raining I generally turn them off or put the sensitivity on the lowest.

Believe it or not it is kind of hard to detect water on a windshield in a quantifiable amount to decide when to turn the wipers on. Tesla sucks at it extra hard because they try to use a camera.

Have had it happen it too. I just turn the wipers to off unless I'm going to need them.
