Title says it all... I have a 23 Premium EX that has started making a rapid clicking sound from underneath the vehicle when starting. To my ears it sounds like a relay trying to engage five or six times. I would expect to possibly hear one click as the system powers up the high voltage but the rapid multiple clicks has me concerned. The car has 8600 miles on it. A precursor to a possible 12V problem? Has anyone else experienced this?

What you are describing sounds pretty normal to me. Maybe you just haven't noticed it much before now, since it is a relatively new car.

That is normal behavior, and I believe it only does this when it's cold. I recall reading that this was some sort of cold weather strategy, potentially to ensure contacts do not stick.

It will do the same when plugging in to charge in cold weather as well, for the same reason.

I also have 23 Premium EXT, also hearing the rapid clicking on start up. Nothing negative noted. 10,700 miles.

My 2021 has been doing that for 3 years, and like others said, more noticeable in cold weather

seems like mine started doing the rapid clicking a month or 2 ago. I don't remember hearing it before then. 21 GT delivered Dec 2021

I do admit that it was a little disconcerting to me the first few times I walked up to an otherwise sleeping Mach-E, and just from it sensing approach, all kinds of things in and under the car started to click. And not 1 & done either. But rather an ensemble.

That's the cold weather strategy( a sequence of 5-6 rapid clicks) to unstuck contractors if frozen. It goes away when temp is above 40
