I commute about 90 miles a day and rack an easy 450-500 miles a week/~2000 miles a month on the AWD MME. I stopped wasting my time reading posts by illogical intuitive “thinkers” posting “solutions”. Read the damn manual sitting down in the drivers seat. Look at every information button. Select functions you want or don’t want. You’ll find out things like…if your contact list has.. hundreds+ if not thousands of contacts it’ll take more than 3 of your favorite songs to upload. Or you can see regenerative braking efficiencies. Or fix that damn intelligent cruise to stop adding 5 mph.. or learn to turn lane keeping off because it sucks on curvy roads. Sure PAAK is weird but so was every IPhone I’ve owned. I’ve rebooted it 3 times and with rare exception.. it works fine. So if your bored and like reading threads.. go ahead. But if you want to get the most out of your MME. . . READ THE MANUAL!!! Or read your screen menus!!

Caveat-This does not mean you’re going to solve every problem but likely 99%. There are true software and hardware failures that will need pro diagnostics. But most consumer related issues are related to the lack of familiarity with operation of new technology. It is/will be an Achilles heel for most modern technology.

Some good things to know: Fixing a flat, opening the frunk when the 12V battery goes dead, emergency tow procedures, fuse locations, hard points for a child seat, headlight adjustment, etc. it used to be simple. It’s not.

Facebook posters are the worst. At least here you can search for an answer.

It always amazes me that people buy a $30 coffee maker and read the manual, but they buy a $60,000 vehicle and they don't...

As George Carlin said:

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

You can search in FB as well. People don't and would rather post the same damn question that has been asked a few hundred times. The admins of the pages will shut you down if you post a RTFM message too!!

Yes reading the manual would negate about 2/3’s of the questions which would slow forum traffic. I consider it a PSA because in an hour you’ll learn more than a week of post surfing.

Wish there was a physical manual. Every vehicle I've bought I've brought the manual in for bedtime reading.

I wish more folks here actually did search for an answer instead of starting thread #437 on the same topic.

Oh yeah and it’s a pain wading through a search!
I will agree most threads have a low signal to noise ratio. Definitely should start with RTFM.

Agreed, and aside from reading the manual, people would benefit from just sitting down in their vehicle and just going through all the possible settings.

Even if they don't plan to fiddle with something, just see what's what, what's possible, it will make it a lot easier to figure stuff out down the line if you have a sense of your vehicle's settings from the start.
