That's interesting, and surprising. How did you measure this, if you don't mind?

A popular YouTube personality in the Bolt community didn't get called in for his battery replacement until 154,000 miles and six years of abuse, including frequent DC charging and drains to a very low state of charge.

He knew his viewers would be interested so he drained down to zero and DC charged to full.

He lost only 10% of his OEM 60 kWh battery in all those miles, with all that abuse.

So I'm surprised that a Mach-E with a similarly conventional NMC formula would lose that much capacity so early in its career.

However, we should mention that Tesla NMC batteries seem to lose about 10% of their capacities in the early stages of ownership, and then slow the rate of depletion.
I didn't abuse it , charged mostly on l1 and l2, never drained all the way, DC charged rarely, I still have something left of my promotional 250 kwh of Electrify America. It was ok for more then year and a half. Charged to 91-92kwh no problem. and suddenly this leap happened. 87.5 and not charging anymore

What is indicating the level of kwh you are charging to? Is that on Fordpass?

I'd love an M5 or AMG GT R some day! Very cool. 240 miles off 90% is pretty solid. In terms of conditioning, do you mean just setting departure and comfort time so that the car heats up while still plugged in?

I personally do 20-30 miles a day, so I am always in Unbridled. It's a real roller coaster of a car, I love it so much.

It feels like we are driving the future. I believe once cost of entry lowers for the average consumer and ranges climb even further with some of the battery tech coming out soon, EVs will take off even further. I also believe longevity for vehicles will be thought of very differently in the future. There are so many less parts to break, and batteries typically just degrade rather than stop working, the average person could literally drive their vehicle for decades and with limited maintenance. They would simply upgrade if they can no longer meet their daily range needs, or want the latest tech, or a new aesthetic.
Absolutely bang-on!

I also feel that the cost of public charging needs to come right down, absolutely no need for that to be 4 times the cost of one’s charge on household electricity.

Not for me and those who can afford to pay whatever it costs to public charge but for those who cannot and should not but for the politicians responsible for making this EV transformation work but fill theirs and their mates’ pockets profiteering as we get there.

Once a week I make a 195 mile freeway round trip. When the temps are in the 30s as they have been lately, I’m getting about 210 miles of range in my GT. That’s about 20% less than what it predicts on the dash. I set the cruise at 70 MPH and watch the range slowly but surely melt away faster than the odometer is turning. When I arrived home on Saturday, I had 12 mikes of range left. Too close for comfort.

I bought a 2021 Mach-e GT just over a week ago. Notice I'm getting closer to 190-210 miles, estimated by determining how many miles made on a charge percentage then extrapolated out to 100%. It's been in the 40s here so perhaps that's part of it. This car only has ~12k miles on it.
Others here have addressed previous history and cold weather. One last thing you need to learn is what the Guess-o-Meter really tells you. In winter, the GOM will be highly conservative. When you say you ā€œestimated by determining how many miles made on a charge percentage then extrapolated out to 100%ā€, do you mean how many miles you drove and the %SOC loss or what the GOM showed from charging to a certain %SOC? The former provides good data. In fact, just look at the car’s efficiency calculation.

You should read this thread to understand the GOM better:

Im noticing something a little similar, mine is a 2023 Cal. RT 1. First winter with it - i got in Feb of this year. The range even after resettting will be 40-50 miles lower than normal. I.E. 50% should be around 150 miles or so. Currently its closer to -100-110. I live in maryland so its around 20-40 degrees last few weeks. Hard to estimate what the range is because the range will go down faster than the actualy percentage.
