It's getting crazy with Ford with all of the recalls on the EV's. I have both the Lightning and a Mach-E. My Lightning had to have part of the battery cell pack replaced...along with other recalls and now the Mach-E has recalls as well.
In September 2022, they performed recall 22S41 which was supposed to remedy detect damage to the contactors. Now I have recall 23S56 which calls for the replacement of the hvbjb high voltage junction box and powertrain module pcm, battery energy control module becm and secondary onboard diagnostics control module. Along with a software update.
At this point, I will no longer park my vehicles in my garage. I have no confidence in Ford's ability to ensure that the vehicles are safe from over heating. Especially while charging.
I have a major concern that what happens when the vehicle is no longer covered under warranty. I'm sure that these parts (along with labor) are not cheap to replace.
Ford needs to get their act together and ensure the vehicles are being manufactured correctly. People are going to loose confidence that Ford knows what they are doing. I know I have.

It's a first generation EV. Recalls are expected as part of the learning process. Look at tesla, they've been building EV's for over a decade and still has recalls.

Get used to it, as cars become more complicated, recalls will become more common.

I've owned all ICE cars before this EV. Recalls on most of them as well. Nothing is perfect.

It's better than ignoring the problem and not issuing a recall.

I agree recalls are part of the process and have dealt with them many times in the past. However, not this frequently. My issue with this is that Ford is a car manufacturer that has been around for 100 years. Tesla is a technology company that now just started building vehicles.
The Mach-E first came out in 2021. It’s now 2024, model year 2025’s should be being built. It’s quite some time now for them to realize these issues. Again, my concern is what happens when some component of the battery/ev system goes bad AFTER the warranty is over.

The Mach-E has been recognized as a very reliable vehicle in numerous publications. Recalls are different than warranty issues in that they will be covered after the warranty expires.

The two you mention for your Mach go hand in hand. There was an issue with HVBJB failures. Not overheating of fires. Ford band-aided the fix first time around and just installed a software update that detected potential failure, gave a SVS error and reduced power so the car could still be driven, versus allowing the HVBJB to fail and the car throw a SSN and be undriveable. Ford was eventually compelled to do a full replacement of the potentially affected HVBJB’s hence the second recall which replaced the part. There was never a chance for an overheating/electrical fire due to these issues. Just the possibility of a stuck open or stuck closed DC switch causing a stranded car. I agree recalls can be a pain but for most the first was OTA and for myself the second was smooth and took two days when parts were available.

I decided that if I was going to keep this car beyond 3 years I would get an extended warranty. Through granger I took the factory bumper to bumper to 8 yrs and 100k miles. It cost me $1600.

And I had a Bolt during the whole fire recall where we were told to park outside. No concerns for me on the Mach-e, 2.5 years all my recalls fixed OTA. The car has been awesome.

The forester i had prior to my mach e had like two or three recalls on it. Its going to happen to any vehicle. And my forester was a 2016.

My 21 only had three recalls in the 2.5 years I owned it (the roof and windshield reseal, and stuck charging plug). My 23.5 has had zero recalls.

I would agree that my Mach-E has had more recalls in the 3+ years I’ve owned it than any other vehicle I’ve owned. But my dealer has handled them all competently and professionally.

Deciding to not park the car in your garage is your call, but I’d contend it’s not a rational decision. None of the recalls relate to fire hazards. If you also own an ICE vehicle, it’s probably far more likely to burn your house down than your Mach-E.

My 2015 ICE Mustang ended up with 5-6? Lost count, couple they didn’t even have parts for a year so never had them done before trading it in.
