Service Costs for Mach-E GTPE

My 2023 GTPE is booked for its 1 year service tomorrow. My guess is that it should be about an hour and NZ$150. However the service manager has advised it need a 5 hour software update. Are software updates covered under warrantee or will I get invoiced for 5 hours of technician time? I purchased the GTPE in October 2024 with zero k's on it. Now travelled 15,600 glorious k's.

Update The MME GTPE has now been serviced for $NZ $164.24 [Approx USD$90] 40 items checked, tyres rotated, car washed and vacuumed. Happy with the transaction. There was cost to Ford NZ of NZ$800 for the software update/ rear vision camera issues etc. Pleased I did not have to pay that. I also had to pay NZ$120 to keep my Ford Pass internet connection live for another 12 months.

Hi Murray, it's likely that your Mach-E is due for some safety recalls, which is what the 5 hours of software updates will be for.

You can search https://www.vehiclerecallsafety.nzta.govt.nz/ for the details (type in "Mach-E") but in short the recalls are 25S65 (the 12V battery discharge issue that causes the doors to not unlock), and 25S49 (the reverse camera image freezing issue). Both of these have been discussed elsewhere on the forum

Your particular car might be affected by both, either or none of these recalls. Ford will likely handle it for free.

Updates other than what are covered by recalls likely won’t be covered unless you are having a specific problem that is covered by a Customer Service Program such as your windshield fogging or your phone not charging well on the wireless charging pad.

The two recalls that @ESJB mentioned shouldn’t take the dealer more than 45 minutes. I would talk with the dealer to get a good idea of what exactly they have planned for your service visit.

Depends on your dealer and what the update is for.

Recall? Definitely covered

Updates to fix a problem? Covered if under warranty

Random updates for the sake of updates? Depends on your dealer.

My local dealer updates every Mach E every time they come in for service to all available updates for free. They also offer a loaner (if available) and will pick up my car and drop off a loaner.

None of those things are standard with the warranty.

Though not a performance edition I just did a 30k service on my 23 GT. They recommended checking wheel alignment and flush the brake fluid. Without those and a recall SW update it was $35.

They wanted $100 for the alignment and $235 for the brake fluid service. I declined both.
