Is there any consensus on which tire provides the smoothest ride? Getting tired of the bumps and the car bucking like a bronco over rolls of lifted asphalt, I'm not out hot dogging it, all I want is a less bouncy, a little smoother ride. In Michigan, we don't have a lot of smooth roads. It's 2021 premium 35K miles getting near to the tire wear indicators.

Hey Cliff, since 2021 when I purchased my first Mach-E, I have run/tested at least 12 different types of tires if not more. They all make slight differences in the ride, comfort, handling, noise, etc. I have also run MANY different sizes. I find that the tire brand/type makes a very little difference it smoothing out the ride. What makes a little more difference is when you go to a larger tire which has a taller sidewall. Two things happen. One, you have more of a cushion between you and the road and two, the tire will have a higher load rating meaning you can run them at a lower air pressure. Both give you a smoother ride.

However, NONE of this will stop the bouncy ride you are experiencing. This has been documented time and time again here on this forum by myself and many other members. The issue is the springs are too stiff and the shocks are too soft. Mach-E GT's with Magneride suspensions are better because the shocks are stiffer and control the springs from bouncing better. But if you want to really change the ride on the car to the best it can be, you need to replace the springs with the Ford Rally's and add Eibach Sway bars. I am not going to go into all the reasons why here since I have already done so in at least 5 other threads. There are many members here that have also created threads on the same subject and documented how their ride was greatly improved.

I am on my third Mach-E, a '24 GT with Magneride and I also installed the Rally springs and Eibach sway bars. It will lift your car about an inch but the ride is greatly improved. DeusEx above posted one of my threads and in there are many member's reviews of their cars after installing the springs and bars. Replacing your tires can slightly mute the rough road surfaces but will do nothing for the harsh, bouncy ride.

Cliff, I just realized you might be needing to replace your tires and are looking for the smoothest riding one. Your tire size is 225/55R19 and your wheels are 19x7. I would go up one size to 235/55R19 tire. This will give you a slightly taller sidewall (1/4") and the load rating will be 105 so you can run the tire pressure between 35-37. In that size, there are two tires that are the most comfortable that I know of and those are the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 and the Vredestein Quatrac Pro +.

Both are grand touring all season tires. The Pirelli being a "Plus 3" are specifically made to be smooth and quiet for the American market. Many members here run these tires and really like them. The Vredestein is a unique grand touring all season in that it also has the 3 peak snow rating so it is much more capable in the snow than the Pirelli but it also has a slightly lower tread wear rating. They are both very similar for comfort and at the top of the list. Another recommendation would be the Michelin CrossClimate 2 but for me comes in third for comfort. It is similar to the Vredestein in that it is a grand touring tire with a 3 peak snow rating. They are probably the best grand touring tire in the snow but they are definitely a little noisier and not quite as smooth riding because of their unconventional tread pattern.

If comfort is your top priority, stick with the Pirelli. If snow/winter traction is a high priority, go with the Michelin. The Vredestein is right in the middle. Has the comfort of the Pirelli with much better snow/winter traction but not as good as the Michelin.

hi
For my CRT1, I am on my 3rd set of tires at 43K. The initial two sets were OEM Michelin Primacy A/S. I just Defender 2 and the ride seems to be much quieter and smoothens out harsh bumps. At highway speeds I am noticing loss of range from 3.5m/kwh to 3.0m/kwh.

I have Michelin Cross Climate 2. The seem to be a softer tire, so less bouncing. They are great in the wet and snow. The trade off is more noise and slightly less dry grip.
I put Cross Climate2's. On my 21 GTpe and agree they ride much better than the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S I had on it, and they are unbelievably great in snow.

I put progressive springs on my 2022 Mach E Premium 4X, the ones that lowered the car but not the Rally ones. The other item that I did and was recommended here was actually increasing the size of the tires to 245/55/19. I did this with Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 which allowed me to drive at even lower tire pressure. My wife and I really thinks this helped a lot, especially with the roads in Vancouver WA and Portland OR. Will only change your odometer 2%, the normal limit.

I upgrade from pilot on my then Tesla m3 to The Yokohama Advan Sport A/S+ Performance & the ride improvement was like night & day. Smooth, less noise, better ride over bumps. However, the wet & snow performance was not as good even with the m&s stamp. But it was worth it for the ride. Swap out for winter tires if you need that.

Tire for Passenger & CUV is designed to deliver an optimal all-season drive. This tire features an asymmetric tread pattern, wavy sipes, and serpentine and straight grooves for all-season traction.

I have to agree on the model, but to tell you the truth down here in Mississippi on dry roads and in the rain, I found them to be very good holding the road and the noise compared to the Continental tires that came on the car much quieter because that’s what the wife complained about, was the noise and the ride once I put on the Michelin’s to me it was night and day.

Hey Mark, do you know of anyone who has tried the Nokian Remedy WRG5 tires?

I changed mine out to a set of Ford Rally wheels (19x8) and much larger tires (255-55x19) giving a softer ride.

Plus the Eibach 1.5" lift springs and Eibach anti roll sway bars F/R.
Total lift is about 2.5".

This combination is perfect for my '23 MME = love the softer ride, connected & firm handling, and excellent high speed performance.
