So tired of Android Auto disconnecting

Connected by a cable or not, my Android Auto disconnects multiple times on a trip. This is very frustrating when using Google Maps. Is this a Sync 4 issue? Do Apple users have a better experience? Love the vehicle, but a bug like this is hard to overlook.

Wireless CarPlay from an iPhone is solid. It was a little buggy back in 2021, but recent software updates made iPhone very stable now.

Been living with it since Nov 2022. Someone from Ford called me the other day and said they might have a fix via FordPass. Little did they know that my car has been in shop for over two weeks for repair under warranty!

I have been told that they need to reorder a part and it's easily another week/two without the car

The dealer yelled at me saying this is what you should expect when u buy an EV.

Ford might want to publish who are the dealers capable of servicing EV in each town.

My limited experience with disconnects was solved when I stopped using the cheapest USB-C cable I could find and started using my OEM cable. Apple, Google, and Anker all sell reliable, high data rate cables.

i have this problem after my dealer replaced the GPS antenna. my guess is you and i both have a hardware problem. am i correct that you disconnect with no discernable pattern, probably on average once every 5 minutes?

unlike the GPS, this problem is difficult to replicate and demonstrate. my dealer was so bad at figuring out how to fix the GPS antenna that i don't want to go back to try and get this fixed.

my solution is just to stop using wireless android auto. you stated you have the problem when you plug it in but i am guessing you did not turn off wireless android auto. it is a setting in android auto itself. plugging it in while wireless android auto is on does not turn it into wired mode. the wireless drained batteries so while convenient had its downsides so i'm just living with the wired version

I tried getting a high grade cable thinking the same thing. Still have the issue.

I shut off Bluetooth when connecting through the USB. I bought the highest grade cable with fast data transfer rates and still have the issue.

you are misunderstanding. you need to go into the android auto settings and turn off wireless android auto.

it has nothing to do with the bluetooth, wireless android auto is projected via wifi. and before you go trying that, you cannot control it by turning off the wifi either, the phone turns it back on automatically when it notices you're trying to use android auto.

the only way is to turn off wireless android auto in its own settings

I agree Space. I use a bunch of Samsung tech (phone, watch, tablet, earbuds). I only use Anker or OEM. Yes, more expensive but completely reliable. You do get what you pay for in this case.

AA in the MME definitely needs attention. I occasionally have "failed to connect" issues but mostly I'm suffering from screen freeze. Your connection issues just add fuel to that fire. I should probably find out how to reach Ford directly about this.

Wow. I guess they don't want your return business, or the business of any of your friends and family. Ford may not publish a list of unhelpful dealerships, but forums and online review sites certainly can help get the word out.

The cheap cables were an issue. Now no real issue after using proper cables. For wireless Android auto McAfee VPN in the virus protection software causes the problem with disconnect. I turned off VPN and no issues.

I have been using a Pixel 7 Pro phone since I purchased my Mach e and do not experience this issue.

Just curious, what phone and OS version are you using?
