Got a notice today on my Ford that an update is available for my MME. I am in Canada btw. It says that if I accept the update, the car will update but I will not be able to drive it.
I've read somewhere that these updates can take a few days. Hence the following questions:
1. MME is our only car at this time, waiting for another ev to come in a few weeks/months. Should I risk taking my only transportation source out of commission to do this update?
2. How long do these updates take? I've had my car for 4 weeks now, came updated with all latest patches. One update did happen overnight once, but the car did it on its own and it did not say that my car would be out of use.
3. This OTA update business...can I link the car to my home WiFi so it updates quicker?
I have no interest going to the dealer for the update. I am assuming they will charge me some stupid amount of money for hitting a few buttons. The update is specific to DC charging...something about making it quicker and enjoyable. Didn't know DC charging was such a big issue to begin with. Plug it in and walk away for an hour.
What's everybody recommending?
