Software Updates -- Do You Set to Automatic or Manually Update?

I'm curious how others feel about the automatic software updates. In most IT things, I don't tend to utilize automatic updates and seeing as how there are multiple threads about Ford's OTA updates causing issues, I thought I'd ask the question (I couldn't find any previous thread on the topic).

There's no option to choose both. I have my car set for automatic updates, but I update it myself before the OTAs are released.

I suspect "update myself" isn't the proper terminology. While some are buying an adapter, and FDRS subscriptions to do updates, I take the term to mean turning off auto updates because they want to pick and choose whether to apply updates offered OTA, not buying the adapter and license.
