Hello!

I have a 2021 Mach-E and I really want to use the frunk (without using the lever on the driver's side).

I recently red that the frunk can be opened by typing the door code, following 7-8, but it doesn't work for me.

Anyone knows if it's some software update that I can do / line of code that I can write to activate the frunk opening from the pillar? Someone told me that in the first 2021 models this wasn't an option.

If it matters in any way, I'm from Europe.

Thanks!
Just type 7 after your code not 7,8

When you press the release button under bonnet, does it sound like mine in the attached video?

If so, it’s likely a key and/or vehicle programming thing, if not the electric release may be at fault.

No, but I have no errors on forscan

Have you tried replacing the batteries in the key fob .? Not sure which are the right ones to use as the manual says CR2032 and Youtube videos say CR2450.

My Ford app only shows "windows up", " Windows down"and "trunk"

What happens if you click on the tile with the 4 boxes? It is to the right of the Unlock tile. In my app, it brings up a submenu called "Remote Controls" and gives me the the option to raise/lower the windows, or to open the frunk or trunk. You need to be within visual/Bluetooth range of the car for those controls to work. Mine currently says "Disconnected" and doesn't allow me to do anything.

No, it doesn't release the frunk. Maybe I have a broken electronic latch?
Electronic release is not enabled on your vehicle. You would need to update the GFM and possibly BCM and APIM modules with FDRS to enable it (assuming the software has been released in the EU). The electronic release was added to Job 1 2021 vehicles two years later in the USA.

I have a Job 1 2022 and it definitely has the electronic release...

My J1 2022 has electronic frunk release. Did you mean "was added two years later than in the USA."?

The op has a EU job 1 2021. Those took a month of Sundays to get the frunk update. Seriously, the EU updates weren’t finished being pushed until 2024 apparently. Now, exactly why the op still doesn’t have that ability is another question.

It is already clicked in the photo. It opens the pop up shown in the image.

Not all faults will throw up DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes).

I suggest you check the fuse (see attached) which is difficult to get to but instructions are to be found in the manual, and then start circuit testing etc.

I really looks like there’s an electrical fault, possibly with circuitry or the electric release itself.

No.... I've checked in ForScan and I have the first version (job1) and the BCM was not updated for this option.
