Yes. I deleted my phone fully and had it completely turned off and it still happened. Took her back in this morning so we’ll see.
I hope they fix it.

It bothers me that they told you they did all the software updates. I bet that is not true. So many people have posted that their dealer told them the same thing, yet they have a bunch of software modules that are out of date.

I recommend you go to this thread and have someone check the updates that are available for your car. Then I would take that list to your dealer and tell them you want all the updates in the list applied to your car because one of them might fix your issue. I suspect it will. BTW - this is what I did with my dealer and then I confirmed they actually did all the updates via help on this forum.

I don’t know if anyone cares but I did just pick her up from a different dealer today. They were able to replicate the problem (confirming that I haven’t gone crazy). They replaced the front center speaker. She’s returned to normal for now and I hope it stays that way (knock on wood and fingers crossed)! I tested it with the radio and CarPlay and it doesn’t sound distorted anymore. Weird just the center speaker made everything act wonky…

Glad it’s working, but it’s probably coincidence that it’s fixed after replacing the center speaker.

Even if the center was blown, it would have zero impact on the sound from other speakers.

I’m having the same exact problem. My dealership told me they couldn’t replicate the problem. My advisor literally heard it when I brought it to him while the problem was occurring. He told me that he advise me to wait until the problem get worse to consider replacing the center speaker.

Replicating intermittent problems is always an issue with warranty work.

Your best bet is to take a video whenever your car does something odd so you can show it to them.

when you say the “exact problem,” is it the static/bad sound, the strange noises (different beeps, but clear) or both.

I’ve had the different beeps sometimes but it’s usually when the car is updating software.

I still don’t understand how replacing a speaker could fix an intermittent problem like this or how it could even be related.

Yeah, I don’t know how a single speaker replacement could fix all the issues ??‍♀ They didn’t update anything or at least they didn’t tell me they did. Paper work says “perform PPT D. D1 - No. D2 - No. D3 - No. D4- Yes. Installed Speaker ASY 299 repaired. Pulled the cover off of the speaker. Loosened 2 screws to remove the speaker. Removed the speaker. Put the new speaker in. Tightened down the 2 screws. Put the cover back on. Tested system, noise concern no longer present. Vehicle operating as designed”.

So update I bought a new speaker from Ford yesterday. Only 39 bucks. Had a third party install it for me for half the price of what Ford would’ve charged me for it. No more static sound from the center speaker. Yes I paid out of pocket because my car is out of warranty.

Well there you have it. I guess more confirmation that somehow this fixes it?

Although it’s only been one day. Let us know if the static comes back!

Still no clue how one bad speaker could make other speakers sound bad…… but only intermittently.

There is no real magic to a speaker. Magnet, cone and a positive and negative wire input that make the speaker vibrate to produce sound.

When they get blown, it’s not a “once in a while” it sounds bad situation. It’s permanent and wouldn’t affect other speakers.

Was there some sort of transistor or processor attached to the speaker that could be going bad? Even if so, it wouldn’t affect other speakers.

The signal going to a speaker is one directional.

?‍♂

This is happening to me. I was able to get it to stop once a few months ago by just turning the car on and off. Now nothing is working. And for extra fun… My dealership closed two months after I bought the car and I live in a rural area so the closest dealer is two hours for me and knows not one thing about electric cars, including their own (ford).

It even does it when I start anything related to the microphone on my phone it makes it loud popping sound, the same as it does with the stereo/surround sound. And it’s definitely coming from more than one speaker, I can hear it moving around the car.

I’m really terrible at describing the sound change that keeps happening in my MME. The dealer came and picked it up and supposedly couldn’t replicate what I was describing (or didn’t understand what I was describing).
So every time I drive my car, the sound changes. Like the sounds when pressing anything on the screen and the start/turn off sounds. My understanding is that sometimes the sounds will revert to the older Ford tones, which ok. But this is every time I drive for a little while. I’ll drive, park, go inside a store, drive again, and lo and behold the sounds change. Upon the tones changing, my music coming from the speakers also sounds feedback/staticky/low quality/gritty. This is whether I’m using CarPlay, music from Bluetooth connected to my phone or just the radio. I tried to isolate the sound at different parts of the car, thinking maybe it was a blown speaker. I found that the front middle speaker and the back passenger speaker were the weird ones. But that’s only sometimes not all the time so I don’t think it’s a blown speaker. I’ve tried it in stereo and surround and still have the same problem. It also seems like the sound is only coming from the front or just very low in the back.
Anyone else experiencing this? If so, anyone know the exact problem/solution?
Ferrite beads maybe…used in ham radio stuff to surpress or stop RF interference, ie neighbors cordless phone talking through a smart speaker for example. Used on my home surround atmos speakers due to hiss and it worked. Very cheap on Amazon but often mixed results.

Like many I initially thought the issue was software related, but eventually the sound stayed horrible no matter what I tried. With Balance and Fade settings, it was clear that the issue was with the center speaker.

In the video, the left speaker is the culprit. The paper cone is pretty wrinkled, and you can hear and feel rubbing when the moveable parts are pushed down lightly.

The dent on the dust cap (center dome) was left by me.
