Yesterday when I got home from work and shut the car off and started to open the door, when I heard the frunk pop while the hatch started to open. I can’t figure out how I could have “accidentally” opened both at once.

Has anyone had this happen?

Frunk is a new one. I’ve never experienced that. Spontaneous trunk opening has happened to me a handful of times in 4 years. Never while driving. Usually while walking up to the car when it detects PAAK.

Many here are looking for a quicker easy way to open the frunk...maybe you've stumbled upon the ultimate solution! Now you just need to figure out how to repeat it.... ?

Today, as I opened the right front door from the outside the trunk also opened at at same time.

This exact thing happened to me this morning.
A few weeks ago, the hatch opened a few seconds after I plugged it in.

So weird.

Does your car have the kick to open @iftgate trunk? 2021 model year or early 2022?

Yeah, I've got a Job1 Premium with the kick to open. There was another incident a month or so ago when the lift gate was open when I left for work. My wife had left an hour earlier, and she said it was closed when she left.

In the previous 4.5 years, I've only had one other incident of the hatch opening unexpectedly. Now, it's happened 3 times in the last 90 days.

Happened to me yesterday morning. Got in the car, put it in drive, frunk is open. I have a 2024.

I have a key fob with a button to open the frunk. I contributed it to the button accidentally getting pushed when in my pocket. This is most likely what happened. But seeing these posts has me scratching my head.

I’ve had two liftgate uncommanded openings in recent months. The first was when I opened the garage door (east facing door) where the mme and is nosed in just as the sun was cresting Maunakea. That bit of light was enough to trigger the sensor. The other was yesterday when vacuuming the car and pull the vacuum past the rear of the car.

Those are the only times it’s happened in 5 years of ownership. I’m pretty convinced that odd bits of light are to blame for some of this (definitely not all). But I’ve never had the frunk uncommanded open. I thought I did once until I realized the PAAK phone was in my back pocket with the Ford App open and on top and in my back pocket. Butt door frunk opening in other words. 🙄

For one of the recent openings, I did drop the key fob onto a hard floor when getting ready for work that day. It's a double press to open the hatch, though, so that shouldn't have opened the hatch.

For the two I saw, my phone was locked and in my pocket along with the fob. When the hatch opened after plugging in, the garage was closed. The occurrence when I opened the passenger front door, the garage was open as I was about to leave for work in the morning, but my garage faces west.

Our Sienna has also had one recent incident when the hatch opened unexpectedly, so this is not just a MachE problem.

I disabled kick to open on the MachE today. I'll do the same on the Sienna at some point. The Sienna forums suggest that the kick-to-open sensors are the likely cause for it eating 12V batteries.
