So this is a new one for me:

Nice spring day today. Took a drive at lunch. Returning home, I pulled into the garage, shut off the car, and prepared to get out. All seemed normal.

I opened the driver door to exit, and at the precise moment when I pulled the driver door lever, simultaneously BOTH the frunk and trunk popped open on their own.

It is an extremely weird sensation to hear the click-whirr of the trunk opening AND the extended clunk-triple-pop of the frunk release at the same time, as your driver door swings open.

At that moment I was of course still sitting in the car, with one of my hands on the inside door handle and the other holding the top of the steering wheel. I hadn't interacted with the screen for several minutes before parking. The only controls I touched during or after parking (aside from the wheel, accel, and brake) were the gear selector, vehicle power switch, and driver's side door unlock button. I didn't accidentally hit or brush against anything on the way out - not that that would have explained the situation anyway.

Has anyone else filled this square on their Mach E surprise-feature bingo card?

I've had the trunk open on its own a few times in the year and couple of months I have had mine. Luckily not on rainy days (yet).

Might it have been possible that the fordpass app was open on your phone and your phone was unlocked and you unknownly touched the phone screen in a way that held the two buttons on your phone?
This happened to my wife once. She was trying to scroll the screen of her phone but was unlucky enough to touch and hold the frunk button as she was doing that and if popped open the frunk.

You found @jimpra 's frunk button. You win. Go straight to start and collect $200!

As a Yob1 (if your profile is up to date) congrats on getting the elusive frunk release!

I have no earthly idea how you could have pulled that off even with having the buttons.

My frunk has never opened on its own. My trunk has done it while in my garage. Someone posed that if you park with your rear end to close to the door, it may trigger the trunk. I now park further forward and have not had a problem. I have no idea why your car went completely rogue.

Ford is bypassing the frunk button altogether. Going straight to telepathy.

Interesting idea. My phone was sitting on the wireless charging pad at the time of the event, and my hands were nowhere near it... but this has me wondering if it was conceivably the app that went wacko in that moment, instead of the car. Perhaps the car was just following the instructions it received...?

I can't recall whether or not the app was running at that time, but I do know the phone's screen was off and I hadn't interacted with it for several minutes at that point. So if the phone sent those instructions to the car, it was goin' rogue.

Now I have a new task: try to deliberately trigger both the frunk and trunk simultaneously from the app, immediately after switching the car off, to see whether that's possible. I imagine it is, but I have never tried. If I can confirm it, then I'll have not only the car but also the phone on my list of suspects.

Found my trunk open in the garage today. I haven't touched the app and no one else drives it / has keys / has the app. So wierd...

This happened to me yesterday. Parked car and when I opened the door, both drunk and trunk opened simultaneously. Concerns me that this could happen when away from car and often have my dog in back or have valuables inside.
Anyone know a fix for this?
