if you are just in 1-p, there is no sensing or auto-braking. You have to judge your own speed, distance, and get a feel for the amount of regen available depending on mode you are in.

if you are in 'adaptive cruise control' sensors are active and will brake you all the way to a stop if the car in front of you stops.

I believe that the amount of regen braking power is changed depending on mode. I know that unbridled gives a maximum of about 100 KW of braking power I have never checked other driving modes personally

Yes, the mode makes a huge difference in how much regen you get and how quickly you come to a complete stop. I believe based on my experience that the car is consistent. It just takes time to get used to it. As you are driving / coasting to a stop, you are trying to estimate speed and distance. It’s very hard to do at first, but gets much easier over time. I feel like it took me 2-3 months to master it.

I could have swore there was an ‘intersection assistance’ on the MME. But since I bought one I’ve never trusted it. Apparently that was a good idea as the 1pd regen sometimes just isn’t enough. Same speed, same corner, same spot I lift, sometimes don’t stop at the cross walk but a couple feet past it. I’ve almost rolled into a few cars thinking ‘ok it’ll clench the brakes now’ then ‘nope! My turn!’

That has to do with battery temp. If the battery is cold, you will take longer to stop with 1PD because of the lower regen limit. When the battery is warm you will stop a lot faster with 1PD and won't have to use the brake pedal as much.

And it's still no shame in using the brake pedal.

A branch off question here. When I initially got my car two years ago, regen braking displayed on my “odometer” screen occasionally. Now it never does. Is it supposed to always show if you are using one pedal driving?

I enabled 1PD and brake hold as soon as I got the car March 1st and I can now come to a full stop almost exactly where I want it 80-90% of the time. Going down an incline though is more difficult. On the rare times I have to use the brake pedal, regen efficiency is almost always 90+%. And yes, I have had the collision alert a couple of times, which is a lot more cautious than I need it to be! "ALERT" "ALERT" "ALERT" and I yell back "Oh shut up. We're fine!"

Do you mean the brake coach? That only works if your drive mode is set to Engage.

The front collision system is looking in front to make sure you’re not going ram anyone.
But I have noticed that it is approaching quickly from time to time.

That’s exactly what it feels like. I think I’ve been thinking the pack is 80 when really it’s 60 from sitting in the garage all night.
