I just purchased my Mach E select on 9/30/2023. It had 6 miles on the odometer. Until this week, the range has displayed 224 miles with a charge at 80%. Suddenly, my last charge this week to 80% showed a range of only 184 miles. My car has 1,300 miles now and there has been no change to my daily commute, driving habits, nor weather changes (Southern California). When I went to the dealership yesterday to see what they thought, they told me the drop in range was normal based on driving conditions and the total miles driven on the car. When I pointed out there is only 1,300 miles on the car and no change to my route nor the weather, they had no response other than what they told me was what Ford is telling them and they couldn't help me to resolve or provide further info.
184 miles at 80% is 230 miles at 100% charge, which is less than Ford's website for the Select model.
If anyone has a recommendation on what to do or further info, I would appreciate it.

The dealer is right.

Driving conditions (temperature, speed and driving style) and the total miles driven on the car all impact the GOM. The GOM adjusts based on those factors.

Remember the GOM is just that…a guess. Watch your miles per kWh to determine your true range.

And for your area the speed you drive can have a significant effect. As stated track your average mi/kWh to gain a feel for how your efficiency is based on your driving.

We have experienced similar issues. Usually after an OTA Update. Then after driving a day or two, all returns to normal. Range returns to better than advertised.

I am in So Cal also and I have a Select AWD. My range is never better than 220 miles on a full charge, 210-215 is more common.

This week the range deteriorated to where the GOM was only estimating around 186 miles and I attribute it to the temperature dropping into the 40s at night.

There are a lot of suggestions on the forum for pre-conditioning the battery in cooler weather if this is a big concern for you.

Welcome to winter driving. Range is going to take a big hit while heaters are running and the roads are not the lowest rolling resistance.

Reset your driving history in the car. See if that brings it back to what you expect it to be.

You are mistaken about the weather, overnight temps have dropped down to the 40’s, which will significantly impact range. The average daily temp is down to 60°F. You do not get full range unless it’s 75°F.

Congratulations on your MME! The select is a good deal to get on the bandwagon with a good-looking car!

Stop looking at the GOM and just enjoy the car.
The MME is not an econobox and you will not get 3.7mi/kw that a Tesla might get. If I drive my GTPE conservatively, I can get 2.7 mi/kw. The EPA test cycle is not likely to address your area. SoCal has hills. I can’t tell from your post if you are concerned about being duped (in which case the advice above applies) or you really need the range. If it is the latter, you can employ efficient driving techniques to increase it. Those techniques involve reducing wind drag caused by speed and cold-battery vehicle conditioning techniques.

The GOM is generally considered to be conservative, almost to a fault. Your car isn’t changing. What is changing is how the range estimator thinks your driving pattern and climate will impact the range.

Just as a point of reference (also in California), this morning my range showed 180, after preconditioning was done my range showed 200. Cool Weather will always have an impact, just less of an impact than say -20 lol.

I've seen significant changes not only in range, but also in actual energy use as temperatures have dropped. We purchased our '23 Premium AWD in May and life-to-date have averaged 3.1 mi/kwh. A typical 90% charge would yield an expected range of 200 miles. Once it started getting colder, the predicted range at 90% dropped only a little to 190 miles. However, usage appeared to be about 1.5x the actual miles driven. My 44 mile round-trip commute would typically reduce range by 60-70 miles.

Today, our temp topped out at 31 degrees. I averaged only 2.1 mi/kwh on both legs of my round-trip commute. It's not my driving style. My scores range 98 -100%. But, the energy screen showed my power usage was 3x greater for climate control and 2x greater due to ambient temperature. I experienced a 90 mile drop in range on that same 44 mile round trip, with the climate control set on 68 degrees.

We're expecting cold temperatures again tomorrow, so I'm going to try to remember to pre-condition while plugged in tomorrow morning and see if it helps. That won't help when it's time to drive home after work but I'll take any improvement I can get. This is my third EV -- first MME -- and I've never seen this much temperature-related range degradation before. So far, not impressed with what I'm seeing from the MME.

Thank you this is helpful. This morning in Redondo Beach, the low was 52 degrees. After a charge to 80% and preconditioning my range was 167miles. This is down from the last charge to 80% just a few days ago at 184miles and lower than my first month of ownership just at 224 miles. Thinking something is off here... Guess I need to do a calculation of the miles per kwH or something.
