Sunglass compartment BROKEN

I have an Explorer and mine broke in the same way. It’s about 1.3 years old too. I see another site dedicated to Fusions has the same problem. I’m so glad people share this stuff as I was thinking it was just me.

Same here. I love that thing. I probably use mine 10-12 times/day. I have been lucky so far. The one in my 2017 Focus Electric saw heavy use and survived. Might have been lucky though. Will try and be careful with this one...

I have been driving Fords (Escapes, Fusions and MME) since 2009 and I use the sunglasses holder constantly as I have very sensitive eyes to light. I have yet to have one break. Sounds like this was an exception and a part that was bad on install vs through usage.

My second replacement has been holding up fine. I'm just very gentle about opening or closing it out of fear of needing a third.

Fast FWD to 11/12/23, mine has been slowly failing and today, it took 20 (I counted) times to latch. I've never man-handled the thing.... But this problem has been slowly brewing.

DIY Fix:

Magnets and double-sided tape did the trick for me. I didn’t want to go through the hassle of dealing with the dealer to try to get it repaired. It actually looks better in-person than in these pics and it easily opens and shuts securely.

I used mine a few times and it tended to smudge up my glasses.

I have prescription sunglasses that I use for driving.

I bought this glasses holder.

Mine just broke today. I use it all the time to key the key to our apartment style mailboxes. Now it will not close. Just a stupid little plastic thing. Argghhh

Sadly every Ford made product with a sunglass holder has broken for me the little clip they use on the side always tends to wear out as they only tend to secure it with one small clip on one side instead of two don't know why they do that but they do
