Has anyone experienced the burning smell when the TCU modem fails? The last time the TCU went kaput (1 year ago) Ford Pass stop communicating but that was it. This had the smell of a circuit board being fried. Ford Pass Guide said yep - not good go to dealer. Hopefully its nothing worse than this?

Doesn't sound good that is for sure.

Not sure about modems......but I can tell you that old tube style televisions need their smoke to work because when the smoke comes out...the TV stops working. :)

It's never good when you let the smoke out of any electronic device. The PFM runs on smoke. ;)

are you sure it's not your EV charger plug? And you've lost all FordPass communication? I don't see why TCU would smoke

Yes C the Ford Pass App can not longer communicate with car and under connectivity settings it can not see the modem. The Ford guide fellow said it stopped communicating the day before. If I connect a charger I see the charge through their app but it does not display as charging on Ford Pass. The smell is what surprised me, it was that typical component smell like something burnt.

It could be a fuse? you could try resetting them, I forget which ones are for the TCU, it's on the forum somewhere
