Is this a decent adapter at $69, i’m not getting it, but I’ve just seen so many people say they’ve seen them for sale for a high price?

That’s for Tesla AC chargers only, it will not work on Superchargers.

OK, I thought it looked like it wouldn’t work so I was a little confused on what exactly it was used for I suppose if my neighbor had a Tesla charger I could use it to charge this workstation or charge off of his workstation rather?

You are correct but I would spend a little more for one from a reputable brand. Cheaper is not better, especially when it comes to high current and the potential to damage your car.

The Ford one is for Superchargers only. It won't work on Tesla L2 EVSEs like what your neighbor has.

That’s fine because I have the whatever thousand dollar Ford one mounted on my wall in my driveway. I have no reason to use my neighbors. I didn’t realize that adapter was just for charging. I thought that was the converter for the supercharge my mistake. Thanks.

The Tesla NACS standard uses the same pins for AC and DC charging. The CCS connector on our MMEs have dedicated pins for each.

You need one adapter for AC charging and one adapter for DC charging. The Ford adapter will be specifically for DC charging. If you try to use the wrong adapter I assume bad things could happen..

What do you mean by "workstation"?

If you want to use a Tesla Destination Charger, like a home would have or a hotel would have, you use one adapter. These charge overnight.

If you are on a road trip, you want to fast charge, like in 30 minutes. The adapter Ford will eventually send will do that.

Bad things won't happen, but it won't work. If we had to rely on the average intelligence of the general public using the correct adapters to protect the stations (or cars) from blowing up, we'd be in big trouble.

I know I would sleep well knowing my adapter had FCC certification./s

Then again maybe you can sue Amazon when your house burns down.

Yeah, just to be clear. I really wasn’t looking to buy this. I was just curious because others were saying people were selling the adapters for $400 but I was confused on the adapter. I didn’t realize this one was for a house charge between 40% and 80 and it doesn’t take me very long at all.

I would skip the adapter. I went with a hardwired Autel J1772 EVSE for my home charger. There are more opportunities for a fault and heating when there are connections that are not necessary.

I think you are still a bit confused. "House charge between 40% and 80%"?

There are 3 types of charging.

Level 1 - 120v - provides Mach-E with 1.1kW per hour. Divide battery size (70 or 91) and % needed, to figure out how long it would take to charge.

Level 2 - 240v - provides a varying range of power, depending on what was installed. Highest rate for the Mach-E is 48amps, hardwired, no matter what brand charger you own. 48 x 240 x 93% (for 7% loss) is roughly 10.7kW per hour (most see around 10.5). So it is 10.5/1.1 = 9.5 times faster. If you were at 10% and charging to 90% as Ford recommends, it would take (90-10)x91/10.5=7 hours.

DC fast charging - charges 20 to 80% in about 30 minutes.

My wife was distracting me while I was trying to communicate this basically this all started out as I thought that was the adapter Ford was sending and they were selling it for $69 so I was a bit confused on that. Yes, I have level two charger at home, and Charges very quickly for me between the 40% to 80% so I have no use for another charger other than the one Ford is sending me if I travel so I don’t think I need to say much anymore. I’m pretty done with this sorry.
