Interesting info on the wheels, I had read that several had fit aftermarket 19" wheels in the GT. The hard part is many people get confused and say they fit on a GT line but we know that's different. Glad I didn't buy anything

I'm on vacation out of town right now for a week, but before I left, I flew down to Southern California, and drove back up in this.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Test drove an EV6 GT IMG_4736.JPG

I haven't lived with it enough yet to give full opinions, but I've found the car to be a hoot to drive. Much more power that just doesn't stop, better handling, more overall drivability customization .... and I'm thinking better reliability and trust in the car than unfortunately I have in my MME.

I don't think the EV6 GT is a $63k car -- but neither do a lot of people, there is plenty of stock of them around, and I found one that I was able to get for $51k leased. (KIA is offering the $7500 they get thru tax loophole as part of leasing, plus this one sat at the dealer for a while). You can also pay off the lease right away and finance (at a lower interest rate than the lease), and essentially you get about $6500 of the credit still after the lease ending fees. Not sure yet I'm going to attempt this, I have a lot of other things going on.

One of my small concerns was the lack of wireless CarPlay, but I tested several dongles and found this new one which performed with almost no additional latency for CarPlay and was solid for the 7 hour drive. So that's not an issue at all.

Efficiency and range are of course the big question marks, but I saw 2.8-3.1 mi/kwh on the stock (probably soon-to-be-replaced OEM Eagle F1s) on my drive up north home over terrain, traffic, and also 75+ mph for sustained time. I had the same amount of charge stops as my MME on the same route (2 of them). The stops were meaningfully faster, the thing is really a charging monster (at least when the battery is sufficiently toasty).

A lot more in about a week when I'm back in town, and preparing the new car for its first family road trip, and sending off Mach N Cheese to its next home. Videos shall be made.

And I got a lotta Mach-E accessories to sell.

But yes, I think the EV6 GT is worth a test drive.

I can't think of any advantage to paying off a lease early. It has a prepayment penalty built in, right? I mean, if you pay it off now, I think you're still paying all the interest and other fees as though it were taken to its full term.

Ok I thought of one thing... You could choose lower insurance coverage than the thresholds the bank would have required while the lease is active.

Anyway, maybe I'm missing something else.

Enjoy your little red flyer! It's cute!

I agree I'm not sure it makes sense myself, I haven't studied why some were doing this.

Nope. Misconception. Nobody pays unearned rent charges and full depreciation on an “purchase before maturity” buyout.

HMF/KFA leases are the same. You pay the adjusted cap cost and not the full lease cost. Essentially in most states you save $6500+ compared to financing without rebates.

Multiple people have bought out their Ioniq 5 HMF leases and I was planning to but decided I’m not keeping it long term so I will sell it back to a Hyundai dealer when my Bronco arrives.

Honestly after tracking my Ioniq 5 at Sebring and FIRM, I’ve lost interest in the EV6 GT. I want a light EV and that only choice is the Model 3 Performance and I don’t want a Tesla again (especially without USS) so I’m seriously thinking of buying a gas track car.

The DC charging speeds of the E-GMP cars are truly impressive. I was consistently see 240-250 kW for 20-30% and was able to go from 40-80% in 12 minutes (around 31 kWh).

I was considering an EV6 gt because I was unhappy with how rough the suspension was in my premium AWD. But decided I would try the steeda sway bar conversion. I also added 255/45/20 tires and because they have a higher load rating they support the same weight as the factory tires at 36psi. These two things have transformed the car I don't need the speed, the faster charging would be nice but I am sticking with the MME and am now very happy with it.

looks like you got a good deal though, enjoy the car

That’s super cool, Andy! I would do much the same at this point if I wasn’t already underwater on my GTPE. I struck decently on my Select AWD, but when I traded it in, I kinda threw that all away. Other than the HVJB woes, what else went wrong with Mach n Cheese.

Well that's good to know!

Last time I leased was 1999. I'm happy to hear that one of the reasons I never leased again has been addressed. I'm not in the market for a new vehicle but if I were, leasing a BEV would be under consideration.
