Has anyone else had the door delaminate? Mine has had the bond that secures the outer door to the inner structure/hinge fail so the front now sticks out about 1/4" from the fender. It had a perfect fit previously. Need to go to the dealership to do some consulting anyways so will see if the body shop can bond it or if it will need replacement.

I have had several people remark after seeing my Mach E that it has some of the best paint and fits, they have seen. The Carbonized Grey has absolutely NO orange peel, it is laid down like glass.

I worry about this frequently, but I have not yet done it. And watch out friends, my flap sometimes reopens if its not closed precisely. And there is no on dash warning. My old BMW i3 used to block you from releasing the park break until all flaps and doors were closed. That was annoying too :)

The charge port door is annoying and I can’t believe all the people who are pushing for more complicated solutions, such as electromechanical opening and closing. Fuel filler flap doors have been largely trouble free since at least the 1960s. This is one case where the KISS principle should be applied. Just re-use the Escape fuel filler flap and call it a day!

Done this twice - luckily not broken anything - but I do have the telltale little dent as shown in the picture.
I think it may be worse in UK because driver sits at the other side - no way you can see the flap is open.
Could be better designed. For one thing if you start and get quickly into reverse you don't get the flap open alarm until you've already hit the garage door. Then you swear, get back in forward gear and drive back into the garage and then the car goes "Flap open". Kind of annoying at that point. Maybe it could be at the front, or on a spring, or refuse to start unless it is closed. Or if it opened the other way the garage door would just close it.
On the positive side its instigated a new catchphrase in our family "Shut the flap up"

Charge port door has opened 5 times in the last 3 weeks while driving. Mind you I have 17,000 miles and 13 months with her. Not likely I forgot how to close it. Dollars to donuts its starting to fail.

Ok, I can see that point, not that aren’t 100 other sensors that will brick the car.

So now I need to throw anyone that doesn't note the existing warning under the bus but I’m a polite guy. Or maybe Ford can add a audible signal for those in a hurry and miss the current alert.

My point is there is a free fix to what has not been an isolated occurrence.
The thing is if you press Start and switch to reverse - the reverse camera stops the alarm coming up - until its too late. I guess they don't want to distract you with alarms while you're reversing - but they should make an exception for this one.

...as we age, there should be driving tests in person with state examiners.
"State examiners." Good one!

As if "state examiners" are incorruptible paragons of public service. As if they can't routinely be bought for $50.

Even if 10% of them were corrupt, 90% of the people getting tested would be tested.

In Florida, you can report a driver with issues. When a relative's friend was having dementia problems, and still driving despite doctor suggested he should not, we reported him requiring an investigation and test. He turned in his license instead.

I think the downfall of the design is that it was made for an ICE fuel door. My 2016 Mustang was just like this. Unlike my 2016, though, this design is opened and closed far more frequently and I don't think it's designed or made for that use case. I hope it is revised for future model years, or some miracle mod is created to improve the OEM solution.

10% - I have far less faith in bureacracy!

I intend to give away my car when I am no longer able to drive safely. And if I don't, I expect my son to confiscate my keys.

We slyly took my Grandfather's keys. He had new ones made. We got his license revoked. He got a politician to reinstate it. So we stole his car, and the PD knew we had it and told him it was probably gone and he should consider not driving.

I asked my mom how she'd feel if she hurt a little kid. She gave up the car without a fight after that.

I think you are 100% correct as Ford didn’t built the MME with every aspect of conveniency or logical thinking along with an EV in mind. They wanted to be the 2nd Car company after Tesla to come out with a equivalent to the Model Y to compete. What they failed to think was the most obvious which was the charge port door to be Auto or something other than an ICE mustang part left unchanged.

I am fairly certain these little quirks will be fixed or redesigned soon enough….

Same goes for the 5 sec limiter with the battery issue. Ford will prob use a different manufacturer soon enough.

I did it again. Like the third time. In the mornings I struggle to get the mind working and have forgotten to shut the plug door to the charger.

Then I wake up as my garage smashes my charge door. First two times no damage miraculously. The third... The gloss protector flew off. I slid it back on but a piece is broken.

Anybody else done this?
The care should let you know when it is still open before you start to drive. WOW, but I have gone down the street wondering what the alarm was for and then I noticed it.
