We picked up Mr. Ed last Friday (2/12), with all the paperwork signed, sealed and delivered. Regarding the $500 deposit, the dealer said I could write a check for $500 less than we were putting down, and they'd add it, or, write the check for the whole amount we wanted, and they'd add $500 to the downpayment.

We chose to write the check for $500 less than the actual down payment amount. Again, all signed, sealed and delivered.

The dealership just called, and said that they needed another $500 from us, as Ford wasn't going to reimburse them for that amount.

Upon checking back, I see that the dealership is the entity that accepted my $500 in June; I even have their signed receipt.

My husband told them to take it up with Ford.

(And yesterday, we went to the bank and paid the car off, so it is really all ours!)

Sounds like your dealer is confused.

This was the only confusion around completing paperwork on mine as well. It didn't help that the salesperson who I was originally assigned was no longer there. We honestly spent about 45 minutes trying to track it down. I think they eventually just accepted my word for it since all I had was an eMail from the original salesperson back in December saying that the $500 would be subtracted.

Yup - your credit card bill will show a deposit back from Ford and a charge from the dealership. So the dealership collected the 500.

I was at my dealer yesterday trying to track down a $500 deposit on my first order that the dealer accidentally cancelled (I subsequently placed another order & $500 deposit). They claim they don't get the $500 until Ford delivers the car to them, therefore they can't give me that deposit back (Ford claims the dealership received it). In the end, the best I was able to do was to get the dealership to agree to take $500 off the purchase price of my vehicle, rather than doing a chargeback to my credit card.

I swear, the only thing that would drive me to purchase a Tesla (pun not intended), is freaking dealerships. I'd purchased 3 Fusions from Future Ford, and thought they were fine, but literally I have to bug the internet sales guy to respond to me, and the GM hasn't responded to my email.

VW SF is even worse as they have not reached out a single time about the ID4 reservation I placed for my wife. ?‍♂?‍♂
