I’m probably the last to notice (with the exception of ABRP), but thought I would mention this.
The extended range battery was stated as 91 kWh on the premium for 2024. Looking at the history it seems this number bounces between 88 and 91 depending on the year.
Well it is back to 88 kWh for 2025. Clearly the battery hasn’t changed, just software.

Ford Mustang Mach-E The bouncing range 1758254924660-li

Note that ABRP doesn’t show it for 2021 and has 91 kWh for 2022 to 2025.

Note with my 2025 charged to 100% and the driving history cleared it did show a bit more than 320 miles on the GOM.

2021 was software limited to 88kWh with larger safety buffers. They decided to reduce the buffer size and increase usable capacity to 91kWh for 2022-2024.

2025 actually has a different and physically smaller battery with 88kWh usable. 2025 ER RWD should also be rated for 320mi range. 300mi is ER AWD. Except for GT, the GT keeps the previous 91kWh usable battery and rated for 280mi.

Whats different about the battery is there a write up? Just curious.

My 2021 was originally delivered with 88 kWh usable capacity. About 6 months later it received an OTA that unlocked more capacity, increasing the usable capacity to 91 kWh. All 2021 MMEs should have received that update and all should have 91 kWh usable capacity.

Personally I think the 2025 figure in the screenshot is incorrect. Maybe someone with CarScanner and a 2025 can confirm.

@Mach-Lee already posted a breakdown of the Extended battery for 2025 and it indeed have less storage than the previous Extended battery. I was of the same opinion as you for the battery capacity as you until I read Lee's post. 🤔🐩

Let me first say that the table was created by AI. Second if I had bee thinking about it more I would have caught its error on the range. I have the window sticker of my 2025 and clearly states 320 miles range.

I wasn’t aware that the physical battery had been changed though. I did certainly notice the going from 91 to 88 kWh though.

Note that means they are predicting more miles per kWh. For the “why” I would have to guess is because this is a mixed driving number and for cold weather it should get better mileage. If anyone has another explanation I would love to hear it.

Note you can’t put a OBD car scanner on a 2025 and get this information. Starting in 2025 they are now encrypting the communications.

I happen to have the window sticker for the 2025 standard range battery and it went from 250 in the 2024, to 260 for the 2025 (with no physical change). So, I guess this is the same accounting.

Electric cars are not required to support the OBDII communication standards, so if your information is correct, I guess Ford decided to become like Tesla and Rivian. Sad. That data is so great to have.

Note there is also security concerns driving this too.

Yes, Ford removed some of the cells from the extended pack on the premium and select models. With the heat pump and efficiency improvements, they likely figured they could shrink the battery slightly and maintain the same range.

The GT is less efficient and requires more battery power output, so it needs all the cells.

In fact, even though the cell count went down Ford does in fact state the range is exactly the same as the the same as the 2024.
