Under the rules from the FTC and EPA they cannot mention how much range will drop in cold weather. This is because there isn’t a specific cold weather range test. They can only use the results from the EPA test. The same EPA test that every car undergoes, regardless of powertrain. They can, and do, issue a disclaimer that your range/MPG will vary due to variety of issues, including weather, but cannot bring up specifics of that variation.
Sure, but I’m arguing for two EPA numbers. We have two for ICE (”City” & “Highway”) because (I assume) there are substantial enough differences to warrant two different numbers.

Same argument.

because doing this to lithium batteries reduces their life. Same thing happens to your phone and PC BTW. There are lots of threads on this.

They don't like:
Being completely full
Being completely empty
Being real hot
Being real cold

among other things.
Sounds like Goldilocks

I agree. Now lobby your congressional representatives to tell the EPA to come up with a summer and winter test for all cars, and then we can have such a thing. Expect something in about 3 years, if we’re lucky.

At the risk of extending this thread even more. I would add they should give EVs additional EPA ratings- if you go over 75 MPH you lose 25% of your mileage. (I know they won’t)

my premium EB 4x GOM during the summer in NY was about 300 miles and with speed limit’s usually 65 in the northeast I would get close to that 300 number going around 70.

in Florida with speed limits of 70 and me going 75-77 , my 3.3 kw per mile number dropped to around 2.5.

all this is well reported here on the forum but I am sure most people buying EVs have no clue.

an ice car you lose some range at high speeds but nowhere what you lose on an EV.

It's concepts like this that so many have so little ability to comprehend, says much about the world today.

It also doesn’t help when there are alot of sources which contradict each other. For instance here in Finland the MME was advertised with the WLTP rating of 410km for the SR RWD. I initially thought it’s bs, however around the time I placed my order one Norwegian study was published in which the MME could achieve the WLTP-rating and only lost around 10% of it in winter time. Nowadays after owning the car for 1.5 years and driving it for 50tkm I know that those figures just dont hold truth to them unless you dont use the hvac etc. which I find completely unrealistic(never heard off an ICE-driver who turns hvac of for intance…)

WLTP is seriously flawed. On average ~10% more optimistic than EPA which is already overly optimistic...

In my case it will be Natural Resources Canada, but I will take up the challenge. NRC also publishes range & efficiency numbers for all BEVs for sale in Canada, but I bet they get them from the EPA :)

With the agenda to push people to buy ev’s, what’s the incentive for honesty in government?
