FYI, new powertrain updates seem to have been released sometime in the past few weeks.

For the USB updates I think to have read that those are incremental, i.e. that I need to install one SW release after the other. Does this apply for the powertrain as well, or am I able to install the latest revision only?

With FDRS, the USB updates have to be installed in order. Not sure why they make you do it that way because it doesn't have to be that way, but it is what it is. The powertrain updates I think you can go straight to the latest version with FDRS or OTA.

Are these the same updates that Mike G mentioned in this post? https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ating-your-mach-e-with-fdrs.10217/post-939620
I take it these updates would be applicable to TSB 25-2145 that seemed to have been release a few days ago?

Also wasn't there something a few weeks or months back that mentioned the powertrain error wasn't related to the HVBJB and was just a software issue or am I remembering incorrectly?

Can FORScan be used to check if modules have available updates? I didn't see it on the free version.

Hello,
Quick question — is it okay to connect the battery directly to another car’s 75 amp battery while the other car is running, instead of using a power supply?

I’d like to try installing 1-2 updates before purchasing a dedicated power supply
Which modules do you want to update?
GWM, APIM, TCU and IPC don’t require a power supply. Many other updates that complete quickly can be done without a power supply.

Thank you all for the help in documenting everything for doing this! I was able to give it a go last night for the first time and had good success because everything was well-documented in here and other threads. I have a '24 GT and everything overall went smoothly.

Issues:
- Trouble logging into FDRS for the first time (as many have had issues). Had to get an older version, log in, and then upgrade to current version. https://github.com/nitrobass24/FDRS-Archive/releases
- After trying to update the RFA module, it seemed to fail at the very end (unclear why), but I was able to redo it and succeeded.

Things that I bought based on other members' experiences and worked well for me:
- Mongoose cable - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097NHQ7ZW?th=1
- Power Supply - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8N8JNS6
- Cables that I cut one end and connected lugs to - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R4YU9EM
- Lugs that I used - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R6XTF5F

The power supply did seem to get up around 45 A, though I didn't watch the whole time, so I am glad I got the larger power supply vs. some others listed here.

Non-USB updates.
I read here that it's recommended to use power supply even for the small updates.

IMO? Anything except the CCM, CMR and IPMA/PSCM is safe to do with no power supply if your 12v is charged up when you start. Which modules did you want to update?

Actually, I managed to run the USB modules (finally!) last night and got appetite.
I wanted to start with the small independence ones, and maybe continue to the powertrain.
I don't have a power supply but have a 75amps battery in another car that a can connect

Powertrain updates are fine to do without the charger. I did mine and took about 15min. I wouldn’t hook up to the other car if it was me.
