It looks like this being disabled means it no longer adds chargers to your trips and the charger functionality isn’t available to Apple Maps either?

I put in a trip on both in car nav and Apple Maps CarPlay and it doesn’t show stops for charging anymore.

I guess the responsibility is now on you to make sure you have enough charge and whatnot to get to your next point.

this is a dick move by Ford.
Thank you for testing that. I was worried that CarPlay would lose that capability. I noticed that the other day the Apple navigation could not read the proper SOC.

I will pay for the service but they have to update the maps on a quicker schedule. Once every 3 years is unreasonable. I get, updates for my stand-alone Garmin twice a year.

When you lose connected navigation, can you:
Still remote start the car?
Does SiriusXM work properly with the few channels that are streamed via data link?

Yes. Neither of those are related to conned Nav.

What is available now with your "onboard Navigation only"? Can you enter a destination and get directions?
Yes. Just no real-time data like traffic, weather, charger status, etc.

My wife's car has lapsed in "unpaid" navigation. No more charge stops on routing so no reason to use the Ford nav over Google or ABRP.

Remote start and location in the Ford pass app still works.

Drove a car for decades without it telling me were to get fuel, I think I can handle not having Ford route me to 50Kw derated EA chargers and having me drive to the wrong end of the parking lot.

Sorry - old thread I know...

I just got the prompt to pay up $80. I get what you're saying about not needing a nav system previously for refuelling, but the difference between the days of gas stations on every corner vs the range anxiety I get on long journeys in this car... There have been a few times I've been happy to have the onboard nav for charging reasons.

That being said, I'd never use it for navigation alone, when I have my phone connected and prefer Waze or Google.

Holding users to ransom over connected information pertaining to the charging network - a central feature of the car technology in the first place, seems wrong on many levels. I've already paid enough for BlueCruise...

Unless I'm wrong about this and anyone is welcome to correct me, Ford - you need to separate the real time updated charging network data from the nav data. That, or make charging network data available to the phone nav services like Waze/Google maps.

I use Google maps via Android Auto for navigation. I use plug share and ABRP for locating chargers and planning road trips. I don't intend to pay Ford for connected Navigation.

Yes, adaptive cruise is not impacted by Connected Nav. Connected Nav is used for: Map updates for the built-in Nav; Real-Time traffic and weather in the built-in Nav; and probably the biggest thing that some people might care about - any new charger locations will not be added to the built-in Nav. (any new points-of-interest actually, not just chargers) This could potentially impact battery preconditioning, for those folks in the colder climates.

Now that we have passed the BC trial expiration, it will be interesting to see what happens with “Connected Navigation”. That starts expiring for many of us “soon”. With so many other options, it will be curious to see Ford’s pricing structure for this.
