I never really considered this but with spring coming soon (not soon enough) I imagine a lot of us are gonna be taking trip(s) to lowes/home depot to get dirt/seed/usual heavy stuff.

I've noticed some people warning about weight in the trunk potentially breaking some supports?
Is there anything we can do to strengthen this?

Put the trunk floorboard in the lower position. Then it will be under the supports instead of on top of them.

Put a 4x4 under the floorboard if you’re carrying anything heavy.

My subwoofer requires I use the top setting at all times.

I actually took and built support for Center and so far I’ve had about 300lbs distributed across without any problem so far

My dealer didn't show me any of this. The trunk floor has different positions? My cargo mat is installed incorrectly with the trunk in the high position but I didn't know it could be lowered. Is there a tutoiral? Where does the tire kit and charger go when in lower position?

Just go out and try it, you'll see. It sits on the foam enclosure for the pump in the lower position.

Yeah, just put the floor in the lower position and remember the Mach-E isn’t a 1/2 ton pickup truck.
Based on the curb weight of my Premium, the GAVWR and the total max weight of passengers and cargo (933 lbs.) you can put about 500 pounds in the rear.

And then don't be surprised when the supports snap when you go over the first bump (unless you've moved the load floor to the lower position).

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply those supports would hold that much. Of course you need to move the floor down to the bottom position, just don't go crazy with the landscaping materials!

1. Open the trunk
2. Remove everything
3. Grab the handle @ the rear of the floor
4. Pull the cover out
5. Let the front drop
6. Slide in/under the supports on each side @ the front.

Now it's in the lower position

No need to move tire kit/charger, it sits on top of those.

Unless there's an overwhelming need to put it back in the upper position, I'd leave it there. Ours has been in the lower position for years.

Thank you very much. I can't believe the dealer explained so little to me.

I went a step further with a 2x6 - routed the shape of the nub holders into the ends of the board, stuffed a bit of sound deadening in there to keep it snug, and then wrapped it in felt to help with vibrations. My floor sits on my sub and 2x6.

With the foam removed and amps underneath. The floor sits higher than the highest position, which is basically flush with the trunk exit. This does mess with the rubber mat - I'm thinking about trimming it...but I'm waiting until the install is done to hear this setup and if it rattles I'm going to move the sub above the floor and drop it all the way.

At any rate, if you're trying to get more space under the floor and strength above the floor I'd recommend running the board all the way across.
