I just had my 23 Premium Extended AWD in the shop. I have about 1 in every 6 starts where I either have no audio over CarPlay or the SYNC system will lockup. I didn’t mention anything about a TSB or doing updates, just the issues I was experiencing. I just got the car back and my paperwork shows “Verified customer concern, found applicable TSB 25-2106. Reprogrammed PCM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC, SOBDM, BECM, and ABS modules per TSB”.

Forgive me for being new here, but searching didn’t turn up any previous posts for this TSB. I found the other one (25-2049) from a few weeks ago for similar SYNC and CarPlay issues which I thought I would be getting. Is the one my dealership applied today an updated revision of the other TSB or a completely new one?

I haven’t driven anywhere yet (dealership dropped car off at my house), so I can’t verify the work, nor can I check for any differences.

I have a similar CarPlay issues, but never took it to the dealer.
My issues are:
Problem 1: No audio
Problem 2: Once every couple of months, only 1/2 of my speakers work for music via CarPlay (yes, my sound is set on "center"). What's weird is that phone calls utilize all speakers

How I deal with those problems:
Solution to problem 1:
When my phone connects via CarPlay, I immediately press and hold voice command button on the steering wheel to trigger Siri (I disabled wake word). If I don't hear the "Siri activation beep", I disconnect CarPlay and re-connect it again

Solution to problem 2:
Turn off the car
Open my door
Close my door
Start the car

Since I can't reliably reproduce these issues, I can't really take it to the dealer. I've had way to many instances in the past with my previous cars, where "dealer could not reproduce" my issue and nothing was done (other than charging my credit card)

This happens to me about the same frequency as others in this thread. When I have sound issues I go into settings / phone and disconnect CarPlay from my phone for a few seconds and then reconnect it. It’s worked every time so far.

This isn’t a discussion on how to fix CarPlay or other “this worked for me”. I know about 4 or 5 different ways to reset it and the simplest is reboot SYNC from the steering wheel.

anyway, I was merely commenting on what seemed to be a new TSB. There’s currently no information about this TSB other than what was on my service paperwork. That’s why I was asking if anyone else had seen this TSB.

as for the SYNC system and CarPlay, I’ve driven a half a dozen times so far and have not experienced the previous issues yet. Also the center display seems quicker or more responsive after vehicle start and phone as a key appears to connect more consistently.

The ford owners site doesn't pull up the SYNC4 TSB for some reason. Can anyone pull a copy? I'm wondering how it' different than 25-2049

@MachLee is there a new APIM version available to dealers to fix the audio issue?

TSB 25-2106. Reprogrammed PCM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC, SOBDM, BECM, and ABS modules per TSB”.
What weird is all those modules have to do with the drivetrain, charging, and battery management. Nothing to do with the infotainment system or the connection to your phone.

It sounds like your dealer applied a newer TSB than the one you expected. TSB 25-2106 might be an updated version of 25-2049, but without official documentation, it’s hard to say for sure. If your SYNC and CarPlay issues are resolved after driving a bit, that’s a good sign. Otherwise, it might be worth checking with your dealer or Ford service for clarification. Let us know how it goes once you test it out—would be helpful for others experiencing similar issues!
I hope it is - I had 25-2049A applied last week (and actually paid for it) and it does not seem to have made a difference. I have had at least 6 or 7 “no sound” issues since.

Thank you. This is the kind of information I was looking for.

as an update for everyone, my audio issues returned this morning. After working nearly flawlessly for a week, this morning I had no audio from CarPlay, not even for a phone call. The person I called could hear me, but I couldn’t hear anything. Rebooted SYNC and everything worked after that. I’ve booked the car in for another appointment tomorrow this time hopefully to get TSB 25-2049.

What does TSB 25-2049 address?

For future reference, if you have the no audio glitch the easiest way I’ve found to fix it is go into the phone settings on the screen touchscreen, disconnect from CarPlay on your phone, then reconnect to CarPlay. That seems faster than restarting all of sync.

TSB 25-2049 is specifically for CarPlay and SYNC4 performance issues. Things like dropped wireless connection, no audio, etc. Someone created a thread about it here when it came out a couple months ago.

I’ve always done the restart SYNC just because I don’t have to take my eyes off the road to do it. I don’t mind waiting the 30 or so seconds for it to come back. If I were at a stop, then yes, phone settings and disconnect/reconnect would probably be faster.
