Hi!

Today I bought a 2022 Mustang Mach E GT with 33000km. On my way home I got a message about service and red light turned on. The maximum power was limited top 50-60%. What is this?

I have no idea who you bought from (private sale or dealer), but it's very likely that you bought a car with a known issue - the failure of the high voltage battery junction box. The seller could have reset the codes, and then they tripped again.

A Ford dealer will look at your car in their FDRS system and see if it's the failed part, which will need to be replaced. In the meantime, you will have reduced power and your high speed charging will be limited to 47kW, more likely 41kW.

I bought it from a dealer (not a ford dealer). Do you think the warranty will cover the costs?

I assume the car is still under Ford's new car warranty with the low kilometers you have on it. If so then, yes, it should be covered. In the US the Ford warranty is 3 years, 36,000 miles on the car and 8 year, 100,000 miles on the high voltage battery components and drive motors.

a good thread to read about the HVBJB problem is HERE

Having followed this forum since delivery of my MME a year ago, I am quite enthused that MMEs have a position in the UK and Sweden. I hope Ford resolves the issue for you.

All the best.

That component, if it failed, is covered under the EV components part of the warranty, which in the US is 8 years / 100,000 miles.

I do not know how it works in Sweden but here if a HVBJB fails the owner can get the car fixed (at least I believe some people have reported that.) Dealers; however, can not yet order parts or change out the HVBJB against the recall. I am not going to say the service department is misinterpreting the recall but if it was happening to me locally that would be my argument. That is how I read the letter that was sent to US Ford dealers.

Ok thanks. I will contact another dealer and hear what they say. My car got the recall regarding the HVBJB. I think its very strange that they send a recall but cant get the parts to fix it..

The recall is an advance notice and put the sales of any new cars still in stock on hold (probably not many from that timeframe) until Ford can get enough parts while customers will be notified when parts become available. The same thing happened with the 22S42 recall. New cars sales were placed on hold until they were reprogrammed. I do not know how the recall works in Sweden but in the US 33,000 cars are affected (initially) so that is a lot of HVBJB’s that Ford will have to produce. I imagine that will take some time on top of the ones for new car production.

Make sure it's clear to them that they aren't doing the recall. Don't even mention it. Tell them a junction box has failed and it needs to be replaced under warranty.
